I know this is an AF forum, but I didn't know where else to ask my question.

I received some photo buds over the weekend from a from a friend who had harvested a week ago and then vacuum packed the buds. He claimed that it cured the buds in a week, and they had a real pleasant stone after I opened the vacuum pack and sampled the goodies. Very sticky buds all stuck together, almost like peanut brittle!

What do those who have experienced vacuum packed buds think of this technique?

Hey Microwave,

Photo or Auto's the cure is basically the same. I have never heard of this, hopefull more chimers can elaborate. But I think this is an excellent question. If it works, I would love to know about it.

BTW, there is a photo section in the forums. My perpetual grow is in the "photo" section (signature)

Peace

i don't know about it being fully cured in 1 week, but around here in California lots of people vac pack there OD harvest. Its easier to vac 50 lbs n trim it at your leisure over several months, then having to rush to have it trimmed n packed before it goes crispy.

1 week is not long enough but I like vacuum packed bud cuz if it is a little fluffy it makes the buds solid and I like my buds solid when smoking through a pipe or bong.

Yea 1 week is too short..I would vacuum pack well after 4+ weeks of cure if not longer better be dried very good if not will mold??if you have hygrometer put them in a jar with one and wait 12hrs to a day and see what the humidity is over 62% and under 68 leave in a mason jar and burp like if you were curing..anything over that will need to air dry some more.
I have heard of vacuum curing...where they vacuum them reopen and vacuum over and over till it's cured but I have never tried this nor know first hand how it is in the end...but mold is the first concern..

Makes sense that mold could occur. I've put the weed in a cvault with a boveda pak in the cvault. Thanks. :peace:

1 week seems like an awfully fast cure to me.

My friend claims that the vacuum pack process takes all the moisture from the buds, therefore no mold. The weed I tried was dry and fluffed up real well when grinded. A pleasant stone, but a 1 week cure seems to be too quick.

All I can say was the strain I tried agreed with this baked potato.

All the boveda packs do is regulate humidity. Vacuum sealing wouldn't speed up the curing process either.

The only way you can have fully cured buds in a week is with a water cure, and that is because most of the terpenes are lost in the water through osmosis. This means your buds won't smell or taste like anything, either

My question for this is, if you harvest your buds and put them straight into a vac bag and seal in all that moisture, then freeze it for a couple days then take it out to dry would it cause a slower drying process? i hear the slower you can dry the better the smoke, so im wondering if you where to freeze it could you add days to your drying process because the first day or so itll be unthawing and then drying?

Im curious about the freezer cure as well. I really am not sure how it works.

What I do know is that when I fresh freeze my trim for bubble hash, the smells seem to really be amplified. The trim of one of my Critical jacks had this unbelievable candy smell, much more profound than even the regular cured buds.
