I currently have two plants vegging under about 150 watts of 6500k CFL lighting but I bought a 400 watt HPS grow light system for the flowering period.

What I want to know is if I should put them under the 400 watt HPS now for the rest of vegging or keep them under the weak CFLs until they grow more? The plants are 22 days old and still fairly small.

I am no expert on autos but I am running 500 watt HPS to 5 autos and am on day 4 ... Well Actually I am running a 1000 watt hps through an electronic adjustable ballast and running the ballast at 50% so right around 500 Watts. and they are doing good . One of the best growers i have seen on here runs 600 Watt HPS start to finish with amazing results ! I hope to actually bump mine up in a couple weeks to 75% and then up to 100% (1000 Watts). They arent as sensitive as you might think... if you decide to go with the switch just make sure you keep the new light far enough away as it will run a lot hotter. Hope this helps ... Newbie section is always a great place to poke around muddy or goauto are both really smart and helpful .Good Luck! and Good grow Karma to you !:peace:

Good call, jkdel9. Nice suggestions. :D HPS is fine from start to finish as long as you're temps and airflow are good and not too close to cook the young seedlings. :D
