New Grower Wait for soil to dry before harvest?

Hi i've been searching google for flushing/harvesting information and coming up with alot of different answers to the same question. Im wondering if i should let the soil dry out before leaving my plant in the dark for 2 days and chopping her? I tried some of the smaller buds that were at the buttom of the plant yesterday and it smoked great and turned to a white ash
so im guessing theres no major nutrient left behind in the buds.

You can hold off watering before harvest and this will lower moisture content somewhat and in turn speed up the drying process when you hang them.
