im trying very hard 2 find out more about auto flowering plants but ther duznt seem much info on them in cannabis/marijuana books..? i read earlier on 1 site it was 24 hours light from start 2 finish ..? and iv just read its 18/6 from start 2 finish ..?

Welcome to the site dave.
Since autoflower do not require 12/12 to flower
It's recommended 18/6 apparently anything below that you will lose yield. There are people who go 24/0 or 20/4 all the way through

Welcome Dave! Like realcarlos said, lots of options. You came to the right place for finding Autoflower info! Hang out and read up. There's tons of good stuff to learn here!

Autos are day neutral so they will flower without a change in the day/night times.

More often than not you will see an increase in the size of the buds from longer day cycles. But some autos do fine under 12/12.

I do find that my autos look better with some kind of dark period.

I run my autos on 20/4.

Auto breeders will often run their selections under 24/0, to make sure they have the true auto plants and not just a photo sensitive plant.

I guess I didn't really help much with my reply. Sorry.

It's my personal opinion that the choice of light cycle for (most) autos is still a matter of personal preference. I chose 24/0 in the hopes of having an earlier harvest. Another might take advantage of the autoflowering traits and keep the lights on 24/0 because otherwise the grow area would be too cold during lights out.

Still others say that you need the dark for increased resin production.
There are many discussions on this topic, and I've come to the conclusion that, well, there is no "best" light cycle. I'm going to use a different cycle for my next project to see first hand what it does for me.

Was wondering the same thing I'm currently growing 4 autos on a 24hour light cycle & was wondering whether it's wise to change the cycle & give the girls 4-6 hours of rest i know it's pretty much personal preference as anything over 18 hours is adequate but has anyone experimented with diff light cycles for autos & seen random results or the diff if any wouldnt even be noticeable would appreciate if anyone could shine some light on the subject as the amount of info out there can just confuse a brother

:peace:i agree with auto flowers its preference between 20/4 hrs or 18/6 i personaly go with 18/6 autoflower love the lights of time i see more groth spurts when i go to put my lights back on after them being off for 6hrs :dance2:

Ahhh interesting thank you thank you brother sie ! But do u think it's ok to change the light cycle to 18/6 as cycle has been 24/0 just wondering whether the girls will freak out or not ?

They won't freak out. As long as they have lights at least 18hrs per day they are ok. I preferred 20/4 then 18/6 on the last week.

There will be no issues going from 24/0 to 18/6...or 12/12...it's all relative to how much ya want to spend in energy cost and the size of plants ya want to grow...I start EVERYTHING under 24/0 till health is assured...then for finishing, switch 12/12 in summer and only run lights at night (cooler) and usually use 18/6 in winter.....
