A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. A seed by any name would not sell as sweet. I would like to start a discussen about the importance of names in this new market of autos, or photos for that matter. As breeders and growers we want to know the genectic history, the genotype, of these seeds, so it has become common to try to include both parents in a cute combination. Then you have breeders who understand marketing better and you hear of say AK47. It says nothing about genetics but instead raises the image of something deadly powerfull.I know that when I first started ordering seeds last year it was on the top of my list. Now having smoked it, I don't care for it.I bought the hype and not the genects. As I surfed the long list of autos, I never knew stich was a great breeder, so his name meant nothing to me. If I were starting again I would have made his work my top choices. I therefor sent many hundreds of dollars overseas to breeders who had the best marteting skills. There is a lesson to be learned here, A successfull breeder MUST also have a marketing plan.Name reconition is the name of the game. I believe in running trials of ideas to find value in them or not. So, here is what I have began. I intend to gain nation wide name reconition for 4 of my new strains, while the actual seeds are still ripening on the vine. There are market reports being sent to high time magizine as we speek. . This is step one. Step two involves televison exposure of these strains. All within 4 months of now. So there is the experiment, nationwide name brand reconition whithin 4 months! What do you think? I have told you step one, can anyone guess step two? How could I get television exposure simply by the names I choose. A seed by anyother name does not sale as sweet.
