Quick question.
Why do we transplant. Why not plant directly into the final container?

Correct me if I am wrong. But do we transplant because the plant will grow faster. Instead of rooting a 5 gallon pot it will root a 2 gallon and once it's big enough it will root faster once put into another container?

thats not the reason for me...i like to wait till they sex before i up can...

but if you knew the sex do you usually plant straight into the final container?

If I know it's a fem seed, I plant directly into its final pot...if the seeds are regs, I start in 16 0z party cups and transplant after sex.....that being said, I grow in small 2 ltr pots most of the time...sometimes a gal but never larger....

Same here.

I would probably do the same thing with FEM seeds (haven't grown any) since I use different mixes for pre-sex and post-sex. Starting in the final pot is usually the recommended method though.

i used to start them in smaller pots then transplant them into there final home but after stressing and slow growth i just start them in either 3gallon bag or 5gallon deppending on the size of the strain and they stay there for there little life span.if it turn out a male i just pull and throw another seed in.

regular strains yer sure you can start them in smaller pots and then transplant but with the autos ya just want them to grow with no probs so you can get max yield.

thats just me but,the first autos i grew were paks and i started them in smaller pots then transplanted i did see them get stunted but they took of not long after.

everyones got there own way i suppose but and if it works for ya dont change things up.

my 2cents:D

I complety agree with you outdoor king. I start all mine in final 3 gal pots. Males pop I dig em out and sow another. I think doing this will instantly double size and yield over transplanting.

I start in small plants and then transplant for a couple reasons. Like Smashed I'm growing with reg seeds and like to sex them first. I also use a separate veg light so I'm able to start new plants when my current ones are about 7-8 weeks old. By the time I harvest those I've got the next batch of girls ready to go. I'm able to turn over both my small areas every 8 weeks this way.

The party cups are really nice to start in as you can just cut the bottom off and set it on the final pot so its a lot easier on the plant. :) I am reallly digging the tier method lately.

like i said everyones got there own method and if it works for ya why change.
