Just started my first grow, plants are around 11 days old. The outer edges of the leaves seem to be curling up, and one leaf has split.

Is this something I should be concerned or am I just being paranoid. If it is bad, how do I correct it? 20181013_100452.jpg 20181013_100439.jpg 20181013_100434.jpg 20181013_100426.jpg 20181013_100420.jpg 20181013_100413.jpg

Can we get some pictures in natural lighting and maybe a little closer up please.
I got the best pictures I could, natural lighting is a bit tough in the area I am growing, everything is shuttered up. Humidity is around 45-49 % temps 77-75. I think I had the lights a little too close, so I have backed them up a bit.

If it is light burn will they recover? They seem to have been doing so well to this point. 20181013_125045.jpg 20181013_125045.jpg 20181013_125042.jpg 20181013_125035.jpg 20181013_125031.jpg 20181013_125009.jpg 20181013_125000.jpg 20181013_124955.jpg 20181013_124950.jpg 20181013_124940.jpg

Doesn't look to bad just maybe some light/heat stress. What type of lighting and height did you have it at? Here is what is normally asked when putting in a question in the infirmary to help give you a better diagnoses.

Sorry for the late reply. Night shift worker

Problem: Leaves are curled up and slightly rolling. One leaf has split. The worst of the curled leaves feel a bit dry to the touch.

Medium/grow method: Biobizz Light-Mix / extra perlite Using 3 Gallon smart pots

Feed: and supplements used: Mostly water to this point. Have added some Bio Root from General Organics. Very diluted. 1 ML per 4/5 Gallon. Added this when I first soaked the soil for planting the seeds.

water source: Using a RV filter to remove chlorine. Water tastes great, so it is working to filter the chlorine. I admit I have not been pHing my water. Water does work well for growing other plants (non-cannabis)

Strain/age: Plants are around Day 11 on the pictures. 2 White Widow Auto 2 Nirvana AK-48 2 Nirvana Bubblicious (I know I went a little overboard with the strain types for my first grow, should have stuck with just one strain for ease)

light used: Using 3 LED: CREE CXA3070 3000K Roleadro COB Led Grow Light (Cheaper Amazon lights. Went in with my dad on the costs of the setup, he knows Amazon and was the best lights I could convince him to buy)

Climate: Temps around 75-79 F Humidity has been around 47-54 %

Additional info: Around day 5/6 while I was at work the duct for the AC unit actually popped out of the window and off the unit itself. Was cycling hot air into the room. Not sure how long it was like that, but when I got home the tent was around 100 F. Fixed the issue, although the soil did not look too dry I gave the plants a decent watering fearing they got scorched. Plants did not start looking curled however until several days later. Not sure if this is related.

I have since backed the lights off a bit, around 5-6 inches and have even turned off 2 of the 3 to see if the plants will uncurl a bit. Lights are 28 inches from the top of the leaves. I also gave them their first heavy watering (with some run off) Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks for the information thus far.

Going to let them grow a few days and see what they look like. I think they will recover they look a little more unfurled already. Its strange, the Bubblicious seedlings seem to have loved the extra/light heat. They are growing very well no curling. Got my first set of 5 leaves on them today.

@BottleToke Welcome to AFN. To get someone’s attention put the at-mark @ in front of their AFN name like I did for you.

A 5000k CFL on the end of an extension cord is good for pictures. The color rendition is good for diagnostics and will be consistent.

I think you are just dealing with some heat problems The leaf you think split looks like it is just leafing out (dividing into 3,5,7 ........ fingers etc.). I dim my COBs to ~ 25 watts and start new plants at 32" for seedlings 75° to 80°F with 70% humidity. 100°F is pretty high but it happens. What does not kill them sometimes makes them better as they struggle to reproduce!

@archie gemmill will have some welcome information for you.
