Grow Room Worthy of 'Lollipopping'?

I've never lollipopped a plant before and I've never had a plant that stood less than 10 inches tall during flowering. I did a lot of LST and it's spread out quite nicely however there's a lot of undergrowth that I could easily trim away. But before taking that step, I'd first like to ask if it's worth the effort. Will the removal of these lower leaves actually direct more energy into the flowers? I know that pulling 'suckers' off of tomato plants is done for that reason but not sure if it carries over to cannabis. Any insight / suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks!
