I am new to growing. I have the autopots watering system. I have watched some videos on youtube with mr canuck where he uses dry amendments in coco coir. I am looking at doing auto plants in coco coir in 3 gallon fabric pots in the autopots. I am looking at the dr earth dry amendments with the tomato and vegetable 4-6-3 and bud and bloom flower girl 3-9-4 with calmag with silicon with drip clean in the water in the reservoir to the autopots on there.

I am looking at mixing in 70-30 of the 4-6-3 and 3-9-4 with the coco when I put the seedling in the pot then 3 weeks later top dress with 50-50 of the 4-6-3 and 3-9-4 then 3 weeks later top dress with 30-70 of the 4-6-3 and 3-9-4 on there.

Would that work? I have read that some people use earthworm castings though I would rather not have to do that if I do not need to. Do I need it?

Why even consider dry amendments, which to me seem like they would add a lot of uncertainty and risks., with no control of nutrient dosing? And your mixing 3 base nutrients adds even more uncertainties, risks. Coco is generally better treated as hydro, not soil; and mixing in living soil components, such as worm castings, with coco just mixes things up. For example, would you be pHing for coco or living soil?

Why not just feed your plants the base nutrients you select, like you're essentially supposed to with coco? Why not use the AutoPots for nutrient feeding, rather mixing nutes with the coco and then just delivering water?

Otherwise, you might consider some of the 'super soil' type products usable with coco that advertise needing water only, which should work well with AutoPots.

You need to learn a lot more about plant nutrition to embark on such a complicated formula. Start by learning about Liebig's law of the minimum to understand why the balance between nutrient components is so important. I highly recommend choosing a nutrient line designed from the ground up for the style of growing you want to use - Autopots. Use that single vendor and use all of the products in the line. They spend millions of dollars with PHDs to develop nutrients that work together to maintain a balance. Take advantage of that.

You're in the wrong place to ask this, this is primarily for hydroponics. Try reposting this thread to the organics or the new grow channel.

Thanks. I want to have plants that were planted at different times on 1 reservoir which is why I want mainly water in the reservoir as I have not been able to find a liquid nutrient plan that uses the same level of nutrients for the entire grow on there. Do you know of any liquid nutrients that I can use in the reservoir to feed plants that were planted at different times with like 2 plants in veg and 2 plants in flowering getting the same level of nutrients from the reservoir on there? I looked at the lucas formula and heads formula but I read it uses different ec levels for veg and flowering the plants you do on there.

Im sorry but unfortunately that is beyond of my and most of everyone's expertise. If I were you and you dont want to do synthetic hydroponics I'll make your life a whole lot easier. Assuming you're american, just get fox farm ocean or forest soil, get a 3 gallon growing pot, and after the 4th week from sprout just top dress the soil with 3 tablespoons of dr earth all purpose 444 you can get from amazon and 3 tablespoons of flower girl 394 and re feed every 3 weeks.

Thanks. If I top dress more often do you think that would work with coco on there?
