....Vermin that dine-and-shine,... from the looks of the chew damage, likely suspects are Earwigs, grasshoppers (juvie's especially), maybe even a desperate caterpillar....Part of the tell is both edges and holes have been chewed, leaving ragged margins; most caterpillars usually are edge feeders; I'm positive it's not the sow bugs/pill bug/rollie-pollies, as they don't eat live plants, just decaying material...nor is it slug/snail damage... no slime trails, and they leave very characteristic damage 
...Scope around the general area for things the vermin can hide under; some will move quite a ways to get at food! Death baits can help, diatomaceous earth and/or pyrethrum powder are good too... let us know what you find! stalk those little poop-stains some night, and get confirmation! LOL!
