Hi

My pal and me are doing an auto grow, its not my first grow but I guess my questions will fit in the "new growers Forum". We are growing 3 Critical Jacks Auto, 2 Skunk 1 Auto and 1 unknown Auto Female (Males are in another room). The grow was real good so far, CJ`s in 15 L airpots, Skunks are in 14 Liter "Tekkus" and the one unknown is in a 11 Liter Pot.
We`re using 400 Watt HPS and a Tent, Soil was a good one, "Composana"(German quality soil lot of growers use). We watered 1 Time a week in the first three weeks, that seemed to be enough.

PH is checked with a PH pen, like i said it`s not my first grow...and i thought i did everything right, but now, more and more yellow tips at the leaves are comming and i realy dont know why...
Also the one Skunk Plant and the biggest CJ are showing signs of overfertilization...but we did not use fertilizers so far.

The water where now the grow tent is, is much harder than the water i used before. I need much more acid to put down the PH.

The Plants where in the big pots from the beginning, in the middle we left some space for starter soil.

I realy would like to know, where these yellow tips and "eagle claws" comes from (I dont know if that is used in english...eagle claws...means when the leave tips bow down like and eagle claw, mostly a sign for overfertilization. But like I said, we dont use fertlizer so far.
What could that be? normaly yellow tips are a sign for wrong PH but the PH is good. I checked the PH from drain, and it was around 6.4.
When we water, we water with drain, a little bit sometimes more. I realy dont know what we`re doing wrong, Temps are OK too, the "setting" should be good but more and more of these yellow tips and signs of overfertilization are driving me mad...

I watered the worst looking plant yesterday with more water than usual but no effekt, still looking not so good that one skunk Lady. OK, hope to get some answers. I can post some pics this eve or 2morrow but we aint got a good cam , tried to take some pics this morning but the pics are not good.
OK. Hope there are any solutions for this yellow tip prob.
Nice regards, Clay

The yellow tips sound like nute burn. How much nutrients are you using. Autoflowers are a bit sensitive to nutrients. A fourth strength is best for Autos to start with and then gradually up the amount. the most I have used is half strength:smokebuds: best of luck

How far is the light from canopy? Also, try to get a few photos, it's hard to tell without them since there are different ways for leaves tips to get yellow.
From my experience the eagle claws you're referring to is a sign of underwatering. At least my DP AutoX showed thirst this way.

Hey and Welcome!!
Pretty new at this so take it for what it is.
I have been observing some slight yellowing and burnt tips on a few fan leave along with some eagle clawing too. So far I am thinking on Ca Mg deficiency with a bit of nutrient overload specifically N. Ca Mg is most likely due to LED and the autos I am growing being sensitive to Ca Mg deficiency and under watering causing nutrients to concentrate. Being new I used to over-water and now tend to compensate by under-watering. To correct I am watering a bit more and using CaMg+ only.
Peace, happy growing, and a bit of :karma Cloud: to help you on your way!!

Hi
Like I said...or better tried to say , we`re not using fertilizer so far...i thought fertilizer is the word for nutes, maybe i was wrong (?). We dont use nutes, the soil should have enough in it at least for 4 weeks (in this big shoes)

The light is round 40 cm away from the plants. unfortunately they show the same eagle claws after watering them enough...

Me had that Autox too, great grow, but the weed wasnt that`good, the sativa Pheno better then the indika one but if you had some good strong weed before u dont feel anything from the autox...

I try to do some pics later and post em this eve (eve here in around 3, 4 hours :-) )
Thanks for your answers,
Clay

Hi again,
me made some pics but only with a kind of pocket camcorder what makes just vga pics and they are all useless, blurry...but I try to upload the 3 best I found. We watered most Plants again today, there I recognized again that the airpots are a bit light. Maybe we put to less water in the airpots so they drained through tzhe holes on the side and maybe so we get a salt Problem in the soil. So i put so much water in the airpots untill they were heavy and draining through the bottom. Maybe this is why they had yellow tips. That would explain the yellows in the airpots but not in the normal ones. It seems one of the skunk auto is not that strong, doesnt look like her sis, smaler and not so bushy and a lot of Probs with the leaves.

OK here are the pics and I hope u see some. 333_0162.jpg333_0142.jpg333_0154.jpg Pic one is one of the yellow tips, two is all together and 3: is the skunk with the twisted small leaves with tzhe eagle claws. Sorry for the bad pics, I`ll try to get my other cam as soon I can and make some Pics with it. Will be better then.

Ahja I checked on the PH from the drain, this was good around 6.2 - 6.00 PH.
This yellow Tips happens alot with the CJ`s I know that, I ve grown them before, 2 Times and had so far only one Plant without yellow tips.
So, I´ll be back tomorrow, hope the pics helps a bit at least.
Nice eve, Clay

PS.The CJ got at least 2 Phenos I know, the big one what takes around 70-75 days to finish, more sativa type and the small bushy very raisinfull (i am sure these word does not exist...:-) ) HARZIG as we say here, good stuff...

I bound the main stem of the big one down today, she was getting to tall..is that OK, binding down autos?
Ok thats all,
Clay

That's the same tip burn I had when I moved my LEDs too close to the plants. Try to move it 60 cm from canopy and see if they get better. Mine did.

What is the pH of the water going in to your soil? With the pH out being between 6.0-6.2, if your water in is at 6.5 your actual soil pH could be slightly lower, like 5.7-5.9, not crazy low but enough to maybe see some lockout issues.

I did a little looking around for more info about Composana soil and it looks like it is a very high quality soil but also pre-fertilized so it could be a little hot straight out of the bag for your girls. Do you mix in any perlite or any other additives to the soil?

My Water PH is regulated, I reg it down to 6.5 to 6.8. I checked the drain PH and its between 6.3 and 6.0.
We did not put the babys into the Composana, I left some space in the middle of the Pot for starter soil. (OK composana starter soil :-) but this is very good too ) This Time we made the hole for the starter soil a bit deeperlike around 20 cm.deep and 15 cm wide. Did that before and seems for me the best way to plant autos. Sure we mixed the soil, forgot to mention that, we put in Perlite, swelling clay and a bit of coco.
The Plants did very very well so far but now problems comes...We are in day 26 and I guess I never had so big Plants (in day 26) before, but most time i get these yellow tips and I realy don`t know why...The only one what got NO yellow tips, is the unknown auto, its kind of a bonsai and I guess lot of indika genes in it. Its the one in front of the fan, on pic 2, left side...maybe i can make some better Pics today...
Thanks again for your help,
Nice regards, Clay

We put the small plants to the left side now in the tent, also we put the lamp more to the left side so that the plants with the Probs and the big ones are right sided and more away from the lamp. We put the lamp up to round 50-60 cm and I hope this getting better now. Also one of the CJ`s are much bigger then her two sisters. I recognized 2 different phenos of the CJ. One more sativa, getting bigger then the other ones and need more time to finish. I bend her down this time, never have done this before with autos, hope this will work. I dont want to cut her down. We dont have a net, so I did not know what to do cause the big one is 20 cm more hgigh then the others....

OK we see today if something changed.
Nice regards, Clay
