Young plant has problem(s), please help

Okay, one more image and this one shows what the latest problem looks like up close. What do you think is happening??

Compared to the pictures and descriptions on growweedeasy i would say its a calcium def.

Thanks for the response--

I had planned to give a dose of cal-mag next feeding but your post has me re-thinking this. I think I'll do a foliar feeding of cal-mag later today and tomorrow instead.

I wish I understood what the underlying cause of these successive (simultaneous?) unlikely deficiencies, particularly since pH is clearly not the culprit.

I've just spent the last hour going through all my reference material and can't find anything that looks like this. Personally I've only once seen leaves that look like that and it was from a stink bug that had gotten into my grow room and had been chewing on the leaves.

Excess amount of both P and K can cause some weird issues. Even at a 50/50 mixture, FFOF is still pretty hot. Coupled with the amount of nutrients you're feeding it has me thinking that could be an issue. At this point I'm thinking a good flush might be in order. 3 times the pot size with water balanced to pH of 6.5. Mix some light, 1/4 strength nutrients into the last gallon of the flush. I'm also going to see if I can get JM into have a look. He might be able to pick up on something we're missing.

Thanks, Muddy for taking the time to research further. I am blown away that you gave so much time to help a noob grower.

I'm going to follow your advice and flush tomorow with Sledgehammer and then run some pH water, finishing up with a lightly nuted pH @ 6.5.

Also, thanks for referring to jm for his look-see...hope he has a chance to stop by.

I'm going to be a fly on the wall here learning as I'm a noob and I see you have top notch help already.

This is a two plant grow, one plant seems to be OK, the other is not. Both are a little slower developing than my previous WW grows

Did you change anything from previous grows? You have serious problems and they can not just come out of nowhere. You must have done something very wrong this time, if you were satisfied with your previous grows.

I can not tell you what is wrong and what to do, new grow would be the best, but you must find the source of troubles before. Or change everything and leave worries behind for some time, until new worries arrive.

Good Luck!

The only thing that has changed is the age of the soil that was used for all four grows (same bags). The bags were not tightly sealed for the first 3-4 months (exposed to the air) and then loosely sealed for another 6 months. There were no signs of bugs or any other crawly things. The pH of the soil changed over the four grows. The first two grows, no lime was added. The third grow, I scratched in lime after germination. This time I mixed lime and watered it in over 3-4 weeks before germination. Starting pH was 5.0. Clearly, the soil was not 5.0 in the first two grows. The yields were fine the first three grows.

The base nute schedule is pretty much the same for all three grows, with the exception of the heavy dose of Phosphorous to address a deficiency. I've also done a little foliar feeding (epsom and then today cal-mag)

Just finished flushing with Sledgehammer, additional rinsing with Ph-ed water, followed by Ph-ed light feeding. We'll see how she responds...

Thanks for responding.

It's a learning process for me as well. If I can help you figure out what's going on, then I'm better prepared for the next person that has a similar issue. Diagnosing plant issues is probably the hardest thing we do here, so the more we learn, the better.

Might be, that you had put too much DL into your soil. And let it develop for too long before planting. And that was the biggest change made in your last grow.

Reading articles like this
http://gardenrant.com/?guest_post=please-stop-liming-your-soil-based-on-the-ph
made me very carefull with DL. It works, but to some extent and can make troubles also.

It is almost sure that something in this grow, that differs from your previous grows, causes your troubles. Such troubles do not just come out of nowhere and growing does not depend on your luck or position of planets and sun.
