New Grower YoungBudz first Auto (Moby Dick) grow!!!!

So #2 has risen! We'll call her Dopey for being slow. Turbo is a much darker green than Dopey. I venture Turbo had a superior endosperm, but could be phenotype? Just a couple of ideas. They both got light Cal/Mag BioRoot nutes EC'd @ 0.38 pH'd @ 5.9. The light has been moved to 24" but may go lower, has anyone had much experience with the black star 240w and how low it can go on seedlings?

Some shots, first pic is turbo, the fuzzier, second pic is Dopey, you can kind of see the color difference.

So the long and short of it is, at 6 days above ground for turbo and 5 days for dopey I am not happy with the growth. They are still less than 1" tall. So I've added 1/4 strength Grow nutes and stepped my EC's up to 0.6 and will continue at 0.1-0.15 EC increase per day until I reach 1.2 and then I'll step it up again in week three to 1.4-1.6 until I hit EC 1.8 at week 4 and see how they do. As it seems I am too worried about overfeeding that I am underfeeding right now so I might even step it up faster depending on how they take the stronger nutes. Still they are both deep green, although I did notice the new leaves trying to form might be a little yellow.

More pics when they start looking a bit more fit!

A side note, next moby grow I will start at 0.4 EC with just Root and Cal/Mag but add 0.1 EC of Grow a day until I see signs to back off or I reach EC 1.8 by week 2. I haven't seen many people going above 2.1 EC with autos so I'll stay shy for now... This is Moby Dick which is supposed to be a monster so who knows I may be in the 2.1 range (although sativa's aren't as big of nute suckers as indica's, is this still true with autos?)

Here are some shots, it looks like I've got something going on, but I can't figure out if its deficiencies or overfeeding/lockout or bleaching. I moved my lights up to 22" just in case it is bleaching but if it is overfeed/underfeeding I really don't know at this point. I didn't do a proper flush but I ran pH'd water (5.9) through it and the runoff came out at 6.6 in one and 6.5 in the other so I am guessing that my coco pH is 7.2/7.1 so could this be the problem? These auto's have me playing guessing games as I was initially worried about overfeeding, but in coco you need to start nutes early so I was worried about underfeeding and now I have no idea which it is and I really don't want to stunt any growth. Here are the shots! Any advice will be looked upon with great reverence:bow:!

The first, slightly more deformed one in Dopey, all signs point to inferior genetics but it is way too soon to say for sure. The flash really messes with the contrast but the yellow bits are quite a bit yellower than they appear. I was so afraid of overfeeding that I underfeed but it is Coco and it is on the mend! I am feeding at 0.7 EC and 5.8 pH and am stepping it up 0.1 EC a day until I see the right leaf coloration. I think I am getting over the first time autoflower ocd:joint: that caused me to underfeed and over think the discoloration when I saw it and unfortunately the pictures I posted in the infirmary weren't contrasted enough to see the true coloration so I'm sure nobody could figure out why I thought there was a problem. Growth is blowing up now and the color is coming back:booya:!

More thanks are due to everyone here on AFN

So the ladies are picking back up after a flush due to an overfeeding problem (note to all you coco noobs, learn from me and ALWAYS check the EC/PPM of your runoff vs your watering...). Started to LST a couple days ago, here's a shot to keep y'all interested! Node 5 started pushing up so I thought it was time to bend 'er on over and let the light get in where the sun don't shine!!!:bone:

Here are some Bondage pictures. These ladies have some tight nodes for a sativa dominant hybrid! I can't seem to shake some of these damn yellowing tips so I am going to try to add a little K to the mix through some BioWeed (0-0-1). These phenos are really different in their vigor and eating habits but I haven't grown enough of this variety to say that the pheno is unstable (although at this point in any autoflowers development it is not unlikely)

These are some light feeders, only at EC 0.73 and getting into week 4! One lady finally sexed (The other one showed her sex parts on about day 12:wiz:).

I don't like Coco much. Coco is just a nutrient sinkhole IMO. I heard all this muck about "the best parts of soil and hydro combined!" While it is hard to over water (some say impossible!), easy to flush and probably good as far as soil less is concerned, I feel it is inferior in its microbial environment capabilities to soil which I feel produce the healthiest roots, and consequently buds, that I have ever seen. I harken back to my roots, and while I am considering coco amendments to soil because I like the negative space it provides, I'd say coco alone (with perlite obviously) is just a waste of nutes (and consequently money).

Hi Budz, just had a quick looksy at your diary mate, idealy you should use coco specific nutes and feed every day and keep the Ec low at the start. dont make the mistake of compareing coco to soil there totaly different mate. once you get the hang of it and your nutes sorted you'll love the coco :peace:

What happened to the moby dicks?

How old we're they when you chopped them and what was the yield/smoke like?
