This Green Dragon batch was curated with the Winter ‘25 overgrow botanicals.
Westport’s Posse, No Joke, STARS, Peach Treaty.
Also present in the party…some trimmings and leaves, and my remaining ABV.
I decarb’d a few of each nugget, and a manly handful of the trim 245 degrees F, for 45 mins. I wrap in foil and put that in a old pickle jar i to the oven on a shallow pan.
Once done: I added a few ‘fresh’ nugs, the ABV and a small handful of the ‘fresh’ trim to the decarb’d dankness and a bottle Everclear into the magical butter machine. Settings: 130 deg for 8hr cycle for the first extraction (My ‘Full extract’ tincture). I cant say for sure how much quantity. A guess is about 4ish grams of cured botanicals, about 2 grams of ABV, and enough trim that it looked like a baked potato in a pickle jar…9-13 grams neighborhood I imagine. So in the 13-17 gram area all combined in the MBM with the 750ml of Everclear extractor.
I drained/french pressed out most of the liquid - and from the remaining mash: did my “Shadow Run”.
So for the shadow; I took another bottle of Everclear and put the remaining mash back in the pot for 2nd go of the mash extraction.. 130deg again, but on the 4hr cycle instead of the full 8. Depending on the potency, i will consider doing an 8 hr run next go. The theory here is: Ideally, I will get a less potent med that I am hoping is a milder version of the Fully extracted parent Dragon juice. Also in theory: mainly the THC and im sure a lot of other cannabinoids will be stripped out in the first ‘wash’, it should be a relaxing night med, and a soothing body buzz without the high, or hoping at least not AS High as the first wash...
Looking at the two, the Shadow is a cpl shades lighter…I will need to report on the potency later date, cause I am in the stratosphere today…
A final note.
I took the 2x extraction-mash, added 40ml of the shadow back in, and topped that off with some ‘house vodka’ (Kirkland signature).
I put that in the freezer to steep for the next month. Ill shake it daily hopefully, if not cpl times a week for sure. Then Ill strain it and keep it in the fridge.
I did this last year and it birthed the ‘Shadow Run Theory’ of actually doing the mash in a SECOND-SEPARATE extraction cycle in the magical butter machine.
If I have calculated correctly I will be good on juice till next summer depending on how generous I am w/Team Terps. Which is pretty well taken care of.
I will of course mix the two and see what kind of sorcery the Dragon and its Shadow cook up….
July update:
Team Terps have relayed that the Shadow is a more uplifting experience vs the Full extract version which is more sedative in feel. I could be onto something…. Full = Indica, Shadow = Sativa…
