Mephisto Genetics 1 Newb.. 4 plants!! Holy Mephisto Batman!

Hey now. Im fairly new to growing, and autoflower. Just got my first mephisto order. Am about 90% ready to start grow. Going to be using a 400w hps for 3 plants in 5gallon oxypots. The 10% i am not ready with is soil. Ive been looking at all hydroponics shops for a lite soil. My question is, is that happy frog lite enough for seedlings. I have Advanced sensi grow and bloom two part nutrients. So just wondering if the happy frog would be ok with seedlings, and those nutes. Will be watching this thread, and doing a grow journal of my own. Im going to run sour crack, and Heisenberg special. Peace, and hope your ladies do great

Hey @fluffhead! Great question. Happy Frog is a good soil for beginners like us! Hahaa. But this is my last run with it for a while. Its a little too hot for some seedlings. And when it dries, it turns in to a brick and is hard to water evenly. There is also enough nutrient in the soil to last at least the first month. So you have to be super careful with nutes. Most people start nutes between 10-20 days.. Well Happy Frog still wont need anything added that soon. I had to learn the hard way with nute burn and ridiculously high ppm run off.

I just switched to Pro-Mix Bx which is a soil-less based medium. It has no added nutrients, so I am in total control of when and what the plant is fed. And its waaaay more airy which is better for root development.

But Happy Frog will definitely do the trick. Just go super light on the feedings and keep the soil moist!

The fox farms soils have been very inconsistent and have regularly had PH issues. A very good soil that I recommend is roots organic original

Roots Organic is the best soil I've used. FoxFarm and Happy Frog work fine, but Roots Organic retains moisture and seems to have more nutes in it than the other two brands. Just my observation ... :woohoo1:

There is a very soft soil ive used for an outdoor run. Its called black gold, natural and organic. Its npk is .05.0.0. Its nice and rich soil. I added lots of extra perlite to help with compaction. Its N content is derived from earthworm casting. It also has what they call resilience blend technology, with silicon. Its great stuff. Didn't even need lime amendment. Lol!!! Only problem is closet place ive found in my new state that carries it is 45 miles away. Lol. There are 7 grow stores here, everything they have is hot. The happy frog was about the lightest i could find. Almost about to choose coco lol. But really wanna get proficient with soil first... so that said about ff hf gonna take a 45minute drive lol. Anyways im gonna keep watching your thread here.

Weekly Update:

Everything is going as it should. The AVT has seemed to get over its mutated leaf start. The White Crack has been perfect the entire time so far. Perfect little fat indica leaves. The Toof Decay started off as a runt and now 2 out of 3 leaf sets are mutated. Looks healthy other than that though. I'm debating on whether or not to pull it. What do you all think? Ride it out? Lastly, Beary White. Perfect little seeding so far. 1st set of leaves showed on the 11th so today is day 5.
Pretty excited about how things are going.
On to the pics!

Your timing is impeccable! I was updating as you were typing! Crazy! Thanks bro! I really appreciate it! What do you think I should do with the Toof Decay? Let her grow?

Haha thats a tough decision!! I would top and spread it,you make the call.most people dont have anything bad to say about mephisto gear,i even have some seeds( toof alien, grape crinkle) but im waiting to cross em with some dragon queen seeds i have set aside..i grew a Walter White and it went quickly, people loved it!! When i HST it is for a more uniform product with tighter buds and near 0 popcorn, ive only had the single FiM technique improve yield against her three sisters( that was a paradise wappa strain)..and it is pretty boring for me when i dont constantly train them!!
