I recently just started with a grow kit. Tent with Mh/hps 600w with cool hood. And duct fan and filter Everything was plug and play. Pretty simple. I installed a dedicated line(15amps) just for my setup just incase but it does not come close to overload. If you go Led then power overload wont be a problem

As far as connection goes. The lamp has a special plug that plugs into the ballast. And then the ballast has a plug that goes right into your outlet. Standard. Im not sure if every lamp can plug into any ballast. But they usually sell together

Most people won't need a dedicated line. Volts x Amps = Watts. So 600 watts is less than 6 amps at 110 volts.
My wife has a hairdryer that uses more than that.

If I was you I would go the led way!
For personal use one 180w led can yield more than enough!
Its easy to install and easy to expand!

True...my room is filled with electronics. Plus the panel is in my room so running the line was too easy not to do, but not required.
