Lighting 1000 watt dimmable ballst only turning on at 600.

Thanks. It's my first grow after buying for 40 years. so there's plenty I need to learn. I have just been doing alot of reading to get thru it. And I seem to be doing well at it so far. But this was something I didn't think ahead on. And I just didn't want a technical failure to harm them too much. Hence the reason I finally decided to ask for help. Everything you have told me has been sound advice. And logical. Exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks.

PS: get spare bulbs. Most any cheap MH will do for veg, but get fairly good HPS as that's your money maker.

My buddy's 600hps bulb did that once. Cheap chinese bulbs don't have any quality control either. The 60 dollar hps bulbs are junk, unless you can get a warranty on it...even then you might wanna have two on hand just in case. The good bulbs are about double. Hortilux tests every bulb from what I was told. Don't hold me to it though lol.

Thanks guys. I did go out and get extra bulbs. Got my new ballast and everything is looking much brighter again. ( keith moon lives on)
