New Grower 1st Grow, Think Different, DWC, LED

It's a weird, deep closet that I lined with plastic. Been very paranoid about spider mites and mold and stuff, but it's Winter and I hope it'll be fine. It should be mylar, but the LED's seem pretty directional and I haven't felt an urgency to get around to buying it. The closet is 28" inches wide though and it's already looking cramped and I already rented out the room I was going to move her to, so I'm gunna have to make it work. That black box at the bottom is the speaker. I'm convinced the music does something, along with the CO2 bottles.

Good lookin girl so far and sweet idea with the music lol. Might have to try that.. One thing concerns me though.. Your space is kind of cramped right now and your girl is getting real bushy and is just barely getting into her flowering stage. She's gonna stretch a whole lot.. Double or more what she is right now and she's also going to bush out in every direction, so keep that in mind. Only speaking from first hand experience with all my autos in DWC. They can definitely grow bigger than advertised if you're doing it right in hydro. One grower got 22 ounces of think different out of 5 plants in DWC with a scrog! That's nearly 4.5 oz a plant! Everything else is cool though. No noticeable deficiencies and she looks like a happy bushmonster.

Just a few tips from a fellow dwc grower to the next, For the next 3-4 weeks, you'll want your ppm around 1200-1400 and your PH at 5.8 for optimal intake of nutrients. It's ok if it swings here and there, just keep it above 5.5 and below 6. I made the mistake of missing cal/mag during my bloom phase and ended up with some spots showing deficiencies. Found it best to stick with 5ml of cal/mag per gal to avoid that.

It may not be too late to LST her. You'll get a good increase in yield. Do it right and you'll get more dense nugs instead of airy popcorn buds. If you decide to LST, start SLOW so you don't damage the main stem. At this point, she will be stretching an inch a day or more for the next 2 weeks so you'll have to work with lst'ing every single day, maybe even twice a day. If not LST, try a training screen like a scrog and spread out her branches. These methods will take advantage of your grow space and save you a lot of height space with the addition of spreading the canopy of the plant out so more light can penetrate through.

As for your hours, you can drop her down to 20/4 :204: but remove the CO2 in the dark hours.

I'm doing a 'think different' grow in DWC with LED myself but I'm only on day 3. Haven't started a thread yet but It'd be cool growing along right behind you.

G/L welcome to AFN and here's some grow karma coming for way. :dancer:

:thread::pop:

I've thought about LST, but I like how all the branches are about even height-wise now. I am trying to avoid the center stalk getting crazy longer than the side branches, though I recon it'll happen a bit. Space is and will be an issue, I've got about a foot to play with still. I have been using CalMag, and now I'm on Flore, Boost, and Rhizo also. Haven't had ph issues, but I check it like 4 times a day and have been keeping it in range. I have been underfeeding this whole time with my "extras", which gives me a bit of buffer to adjust ph with Rhizo (up) and now Boost (down).

Without more light, there is no way I get those insane yields. I'm hoping for 3 oz, but still expecting something to go wrong at any moment.

Day 33. Still growing, still healthy, but not really budding up. I'm thinking I may have messed up leaving the lights on 24/7 for the first 4 weeks, we will see.

The real question is: Do I see what I can get from this 135W LED or do I cop out and borrow my buddy's 600W HPS?

I've got an empty bedroom(or my basement) I could set up and start my garden plants in also. Plus I wanted to try a DWC cabbage grow to see how fast I could get to harvest. Plus I want to start breeding redclaw crayfish and get into aquaponics again. Plus I wanted to get another plant started.

Spring is right around the corner, I can't wait to get these projects started! :)

Day 37. Still slow going on the bud production and it's taking real effort trying to give her more N without overdoing everything else.

I tried to show the bushiness from the side, but couldn't get a good angle. The plant is slightly taller than the 5 gal bucket.

Day 40.

Made a mylar tent in the middle of my spare room. She's 22 inches tall right now.

Still slow going. After looking through the Tang v. Robowars TD grow, I have a feeling I will still be growing this thing in May!

Day 46.

She's starting to get going, but yeah, I've got another like 50+ days to go...

She's huge. 26 inches tall and a conservative 32 inches across.

My roots are still wrapped around the air hose lines and res. changes have become a chaotic, cumbersome pain in the arse.

Still chugging along though. :)

Day 60!!? Damn. Bud production still slow, but picking up. She's healthy and really big. I was thinking maybe I just wasn't feeding here enough. Hopefully I've been fixing that. I've got another light coming too, though I kind of want to see how much I could get out of just 135 watts, I figure she's got potential if she ever starts putting on serious buds.

I'm hoping that leaving the lights on for the first 4 weeks maybe extended her life cycle and maybe that's why she is so behind. Or, maybe I didn't switch nutrients soon enough and that's why she was slow to switch. Or both. Worst case is she's some how flowering stunted and I am blowing it. I hope not. :/

I'm going to grow here till she finishes, even if it takes 4 months!

Anybody got any idea what's going on here?
