Hey man, yeah they're still really young so I wouldn't be worrying too much about their colour until they get a bit bigger. I will say though your humidity seems really high, was at 99% in a couple of your pics... try to get that down to at least 70% if you can, probably should be running your extraction fan 24/7.

Hi Hans,

thanks for your post. i have kept myself busy and tried not looking at plants!! Sooooo difficult after such a long time without growing!!

I think you are right on humidity, I have the feeling it was the culprit for the KrippleBerry demise (that and a little impatience...!!). I left the fan running all last night and tops is 77%, though the "proof in the pudding" will be when lights go off this afternoon - I shall keep you updated! :)

Ok, so Day 4!!

I must say, they look a bit perkier already, I am sure the moisture is my main issue at the moment...hopefully things will improve still! Oh, the Somango incidentally just looks lush green! Even if a day behind her sisters. Anyways, looks like they are growing, so that is main priority!

Incidentally - what air temp would you suggest for a max? Whenever I look, it seems to be around 26, but the meter has captured a 28degC (82F). Could that be an issue, the RH is averaging 70% atm - I still want to order a very small dehumidifier for as soon as the 3rd node appears - I believe humidity is a little less constraining then, but of course I should still aim for 60% I believe? So complicated, outside things like this were never an issue - I am loving all the involvement!!!

Ok, I halved the length of extraction ducting, it seems to have done the trick on the humidity - maybe too much?? During running hours it has dropped to 50%. Is that too low for 5-6 day old seedlings??

Also, I was wondering if the discolouring of the leaves was due to LED distance or just overwatering? They are at 55cm - just over 21", which from what I can make out from other posts should be fine for LEDs?

That's good you got the humidity down now, 50% is fine man (40-70%) is the optimal range for veg. Also 21" should be ok with that LED for now.

Thanks for that, will let things settle and see how it goes. Hadn't thought about the colour spectrum of the LED when looking at the leaves, so had a look at them in the dark hours, they r not quite as bad as I thought, I'll put a few photos up later.

Another question if I may: I was thinking of using a capillary water feed while I am away with Christmas, the ones with the ceramic bit one wedges into the earth's surface - any experience with these anyone? I have been thinking about it and to me, with my limited knowledge, it actually feels like it would be the best way to water full stop? I am very curious as to thoughts! :thank:

Haven't used one of those capillary watering devices before... I was using one of these (link) when I had to go away for an extended period, before I got the autopots. How long will you be away for? I know for me my watering's are only like once a week during the first few weeks of growth, so you might be able to get away with just doing a good soaking before you leave "My 2 cents"

That is a very good point - I will only be away for 5-7 days....will see if I can give them a good soaking before leaving. Thanks! :)

Also - the Flash has broken cover and is looking very good indeed! Fingers crossed she will be an auto - I have strangely read about people getting both, is it poss for some phenos not to show the ruderalis autoflowering trait?

So, decided to just slightly wet the sides and top layer to keep the soil microbes going, but that is it - the plants still showing a little overwatering signs. Tbh was actually a little reluctant, but I thought it preferable to possibly totally drying out - not sure exactly on return date! :-/ I think they will be healthy enough and hoping to be relieved when I see them! :) I did put some of those ceramic thingies into the ground just in case...

The Flash is doing really well incidentally - the advantages of planting at the right time rather than in a waterlogged soil hey? Lesson learnt!

Incidentally, to those who celebrate - Merry Christmas for tommorrow - i hope you have got plenty trees in the house!!! :Growing:

Disaster? HELP!

I have had desaster strike while I have been away - the boiler broke down, so the temps in the house dropped drastically (recorded min in room was 13....maxing at 27, quite a swing!!) and the plants dried out too much as well (from one extreme to the other!) :-/

Poor things...just as they were supposed to get their strengths back...the Somango actually looked totally OK, the Flash not 100% but has grown somewhat..the HighDensity and Pink grapefruit I feared the worst...here are the pics.

I fast-tracked some ph 7 2-3hr airated water to them straight away, I have just checked and they look happier already! Though of course drank the 1 litre (btwn 4!) straight away, so I gave them more today, after airating 24hrs some molasses and traces EWC.

Looks to me like I have a little nutrient burn going on as well? I was kinda expecting some for the first 4-5 weeks, as I did not let my soil "cook", so as long as they survive another 2-3 weeks, I should be OK!

Guesin it's just wait and see for the next 2 days? Need to get that gree karma going!:coffee2:
