Outdoor 2 litre soda bottle POTS!

My plan was to take the lid off and attach some burlap, and that would be the drainage system. Less holes than a regular pot but due to the shape (funnel like) it would make up for it. I want to maximize the length of the bottle, and perhaps even allow for some "air pruning" like a smart pot.
I want to put them in trees. Specifically pine trees. Between two branches, attached to the trunk with above branches adjusted to allow the arching sun of northern countries to reach it all day. Only about 3 to 6 feet off the ground but free from animals and void from the view of anyone not standing directly in front.

Get some camo tape used for gunstocks and wrap the bottles for a little more stealth.

Maybe I said it wrong. IMO hanging plants in a tree is much more likely to draw attention than plants on the ground, mixed in with vegetation that has similar growth structure. Also with the large autos youve selected, you will need to water them daily, or maybe even more often, in larger bags (or even better, in the dirt!), youll only need to water once a week or less, depending on your climate. Your biggest concern with 'guerrilla' growing is limiting your need to visit the grow site, While sounding interesting, this is probably not a great idea. Also, odds are that your plants will be a totally different shade of green than the trees you hang them in, making them very obvious to anyone in the area. Plants on the ground really arent that easy to detect, unless you grow 6'+ monsters. I had several that were 2-3 feet tall this past summer and sometimes had a heck of a time finding them, even when I knew they were there....

Honestly, stealth isn't the only reason I'm doing it. Dear, rabbits, slugs and frost are equally important things I've considered.
Planting in pots was my first option but getting 10L pots along with all the pest protection stuff to the particular spot I've picked is too much.
Pots ARE still an option but regardless they're going to be in tress.

Lol, nice.
A bit higher than what I was planning. I just want to keep them out of reach of dear and rabbits.
I think If I had to climb that high twice a week for watering, I'd never live to smoke the plants. Lol

There was a tree growing guide somewhere here, but can't seem to find it

I say go for it, and take some pictures, Id be interested in seeing how things turn out. At the same time I would also suggest planting a few plants on the ground, in an open area where they get plenty of sun. I had plants in a very deery area last summer and didnt loose a single one. Best thing I can suggest for deer is to take 4 cheap plastic cups, bury 2 of them in the ground, leaving about 2 inches above the ground, about 10 feet away from the plants, one on north side and other on south side. Take the 2 remaining cups and fill them equally with urine, doesnt have to be full, but add enough so that they dont dry out between visits. Put the piss cups inside of the other cups, then every time you go out, grab the cups and empty them and refill with fresh urine. This is easier to do if you are a male.... ha ha. That should keep away most vegetarian mammals. Slugs can be controlled with a granular insecticide sprinkled around the plants, just keep it a ways from the stem, maybe in a 4 foot circle aroudn the outside, this will also help with grasshoppers, etc. Good luck!!!

Oh I used 2liter bottles once in a home made hydro unit and the holes at the bottom where the cap was would clog fairly quickly with roots, it didnt work well for larger plants. For small/quick autos it might be fine, not sure.

Ok, that's good to know.
Cheers
