Outdoor 2013 automazar grow

Got my seeds today! Came in a coffee mug which was one of the discreet shipping options. Got 13 seeds in total. 3 were freebies.

10 Auto Mazar (Dutch Passion)
1 Critical+ Auto (Dinafem)
1 toxic blue 33 (CH9)
1 Northern Lights x Skunk (G13)

I was pumped that one of the freebies was an auto cause that's all I can do outdoors in my climate. Sounds like a good strain too. It's a freebie so nothing to lose, just gunna toss it in the ground water it and be delighted if I can pull anything from it by the end.

If anyone's grown these before please share your insight! Excited to try these photos after using autos my first go.

Question. I have been reading about propagators and humidity domes during seedling stage. I have heard two main arguments and can't find enough info to come to a conclusion. By the way if I was to use a 'humidity dome' it would probably just be a 1L-2L pop bottle cut in half and placed in the dirt over the seedling.

The first argument is that it would be benificial to put a humidity dome over seedlings outdoors for the first week or so to acclimatize it to the hot temperatures and protect it from strong winds.
The second argument is that it makes the seeds stretch too much and can cause a wide array of problems like disease and death of the seedling.

I think a huge bonus of using these for me would actually just be to protect my seedlings from mice and other things for the first week or so after planting it. If I left it in a dome for a week then took it off would the plants be too weak and break/die? Or will winds strengthen up the stems? Thanks for any input!

Hi jreffa why cant you grow photo strains at 45N bro im above 53N & I can grow most early finishing photos and a select few indica photo strains outdoors. Good luck with your mazars bro great smoke il be watching :smokebuds:

GROWNBITCHZ there definitely are some photos I could pull off but I go away for school in the fall so Im aiming for a harvest sometime in august before I take off. Gets damn cold here in Canada around October too haha

sorry guys just bumping my thread. any opinions on my humidity dome dilemma above?

She's getting nice outside, SO PUMPED for my first grow :D

Hey dude,

I've only dabbled so far myself however my opinion would be to throw one on.
I don't see it hurting the plant and tbh it's the temperature drops in the ground you need to watch out for not the chill in the air, so using a cloche or something similar could only benefit the plant itself. I'd just suggest to find something slightly bigger than the width of the plant to make sure it doesn't end up touching the sides as it grows and something which would allow some form of ventilation. Fresh air is near top of the list of its must haves.

How often do you have the chance to see these plants??
If your able to pop to them whenever you feel like then after 2 weeks or so of having the dome on the plant i would remove it during the day and replace it at night, by doing this your helping it adjust to the outside temps at a much steadier rate.
Using autos tho by 3.5 weeks she'll be fine with very little protection.

As always, someone with far more knowledge is sure to pop along but if I was in your situation, which coincidently I shall be in 3 weeks when I start my first outdoor grow, then I would use a dome/cloche of some description to help it along.

One valuable lesson I have recieved while growing is look after the roots and the roots will look after the plants.

Best of luck dude

Okay guys just cause I have changed my method quite a lot since I started this thread, and I want people to know how I'm going about my first grow, here are some changes in my procedure:

For each seed: dig a hole, line it with a grow bag, fill it with Pro-mix, remove a cup-full from the center and replace it with light seed starting mix.

Germinating using the paper towel method. Planting seeds when tap root is about 1" long each. Planting seeds (tap root facing down) 1/2" deep in seed starting mix in grow bag.

Placing a humidity dome/cloche (just a 2L clear pop bottle cut in half and placed over the seedling with vent holes in the top) to protect it from strong winds and pests and stuff while its small. Going to remove it around 2-3 weeks.

For nutrients: GH General Organics Starter Kit http://generalhydroponics.com/site/index.php/products/general_organics/go_box/ Feeding following the attached feed chart. Introducing nutes after the second week. Feed once a week with 1-2 waterings in between

Start flushing a week after you notice the fan leaves start yellowing and harvest two weeks later when the pistils are at least 75% brown and the fan leaves have almost all fallen off. This is awesome info from Muddys thread: https://www.autoflower.org/f44/when-harvest-autos-your-leaves-will-tell-you-4889.html

Gunna do a wet trim, dispose of fan leaves, and keep sugar leaves/trimmings to make canna oil for pancakes or whatever!

I was planning on drying on strings inside a cardboard box, but now I think Im gunna do the brown paper bag method where you line the bottom of grocery bag style brown paper bags with golf-ball sized nugs and fold the bag over and over. Then check the RH and dry it for one day plus one day per 10% of RH in the area.

Going to slowly cure buds in quart sized glass mason jars (one jar with a hygrometer in it for RH). Burp them slowly until the RH is ~65% then drop in one Boveda humidifier 65% pack to each jar and remove the hygrometer. This should keep the buds at 65% relative humidity and should be GREEEAAAT to smoke. I am so excited to smoke properly cured bud!
Thanks to this website im feeling so confident about my first grow.

For fixing Ph levels do I just Ph the water and the nutrient solutions as close to 5.9 as possible? I think im gunna have to order the General Hydroponics Ph test kit. Ive heard about testing the run off but I cant do that because my site is set up with grow bags in the ground filled with pro-mix

I reckon 5.9 is a bit low, I would aim for 6.3-6.5. Adding nutes will lower your ph(over time!) Just:2cents: :peace:

officially started my first grow

i was out on the weekend preparing my grow bags in the ground and filling them with the pro-mix and jiffy seed starter in the center for the roots for the first couple weeks then they can reach out into the pro-mix. today i started germing my 10 auto mazar and 1 critical+ seeds by dropping them in glasses of water. in 2 days im gunna put them on the moist paper towel, cover them and leave them in the dark so the tap roots can grow healthy then hoping to pop them in the ground this weekend!
