Hey All-

Popped a Heavyweight Massive Midget seed yesterday and it looks like it has 3 Cotyledons as well as 3 first leaves coming in.

Anyone have experience with this? The internet has a lot of different things to say about it (i.e., some say it will be higher yield, some say it may become a male or a hermie, some say it will behave as normal)

Anyone have any first hand experience with this?

Whorled phyllotaxy

Whorled phyllotaxy is another common mutation, although this is less desirable as a concealment trait as the plants still definitely resemble cannabis. However, many growers find the trait desirable for cosmetic purposes, and some believe that such plants yield flowers of higher potency, although this has not been demonstrably proven.

A whorled pattern refers to an arrangement of three or more leaves on each internode rather than the usual two; usually a triple or 'trilateral' pattern (erroneously termed 'trifoliate', whereas this term applies to a compound leaf with three leaflets), with the three leaves arranged at equal 120-degree angles around the stem, although four-leafed patterns have been observed. Whorled plants usually occur randomly and often revert back to decussate on attempts to achieve true-breeding strains – although there are claims that stable strains are in the pipeline. There is no apparent consensus on whether whorled phyllotaxy is good or bad, but breeders generally accept that it is usually unlikely to hinder the plants, and most will probably end up male. Some claim higher yields from whorled female plants, due to the extra bud sites and increased ability to photosynthesize, but this is purely anecdotal.

From having a look round it seems a lot of seedlings that show this trait grow out of it.

Some growers have said, that plants that don't grow out of this trait have bigger yields, for the best part this anecdotal evidence, which can't be proved or disproved.

Grow her out and we will follow her progress :D it would be cool if she remained a "whorled phyllotaxy" plant all the way to the end and maybe we can find out if she yields more than her sisters.

This one just popped yesterday. Auto Critical x Auto AK from Spanish Seeds. I had to help give birth. The helmet was stuck on.

I have had this happen in a few times. Most of the colored strains I have grown seam to carry high mutations in there genetics. Things like this. Every time the plant goes back to 2 nodes shortly after it starts the bloom cycle. Have had this like 3 or 4 times in the last 6 years.

I wish I could purposely breed this in to my plants. I have not noticed any effect on yield from it but it would be cool to make it another option in our gene pool. I have only found it in my autos too. Have not had this in a photo yet.

Mine looked like this for 2 days and then I assisted in its birth.
