Heya,
I'm currently exploring some options regarding "full spectrum" LED lighting for my 1x1m (3x3) tent.
Cree and Citizen cost too much over here(western Europe) so I found two alternatives:

1] The low n COBs high wattage approach
A) BXRC-40E10K0-D-73; 4000K; 2.1A max 4.2A; 38,7V; 11447lm; 23€

2] The high n COBs lower wattage approach
B) BXRE-40E4000-C-73; 4000K; 1.17A max 2.34A; 34V; 5887lm; 9€

Option A is pretty damn good.. there is just one problem: They do require 39volts a pop which is juuuust enough of a difference to render a bunch of good drivers a non option.

Instead of more words here is a sheet of the best options I found:

I think the best bang/buck ratio is COB B with 8 of em.

If you know of COBs or drivers I may not have considered please do let me know.

Have you checked eBay? There are a few threads here from guys in Europe that picked up the citizen 1212's fairly cheap. Here in the USA a 1212 runs 13$ so even if it's double by the time it hits you I feel it's still a great choice. I cannot seem to find the cobs your considering as a comparison.

My best recommendation is 5 clu048-1212 and a hlg-185h-c1050 for 175w at the wall. Well within the driver specs and at 35w per cob you will see a very high efficiency.

Ohh vero gen 7! Yes I have heard about these as they are the newest release from brigelux. But unfortunately I am not one bit familiar with them. They are 39v and out produce the citizens? I'm always up to learn new cob tech but my hearts with citizen as my 250 cob order is arriving tomorrow lol.

I suppose being in USA has its advantages in lighting. I pay just under 10$ each here for the 1212's and 12.50 for the 1812's

Damn I wish I could get those prices. In efficiency they are ~average to the citizen cobs but for me they only cost about half.

But you're telling me 5 1212s are enough to optimally light a 3x3 tent? would 8 be massive overkill?

edit:
The Gen7 29 are 38.7v if run at 2.1A but if you were to run em at 1400 they'd require only 37.2v
The Gen7 18 are only 34.8v at 1.17A so much better suited for common drivers

What's the difference between the elg and hlg series btw?

Go with the citizen. I haven't seen the vero's in use yet but I tell you from experience that I would take a citi over a Cree any day. A citizen in a bjb holder is one of the cleanest setups.

Thanks for posting this. I knew someone had the link. Some rep for your help.
