3xMazar & 3xSweetSkunk Balcony

Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and new to autoflowering grows too. I've planted some no name guerilla stuff many years ago and I was not smoking or growing the herb since. I'd like to start again and I'll bee very happy to get any info I can get from you, experienced growers, because the business changed a lot.
Whatever, I have quite a modest plan: just 6 plants in 2 harvests during this year on my balcony. I don't smoke much anymore. The balcony is almost invisible (2nd floor of a family village house), but still close to a place where some people can smell it (I hope they won't). The smell makes me a little nervous, but I hope I'll manage somehow. If you have any ideas how to lower it during the flowering period, I'll appreciate... I was thinking about ONA gel, but so far it's ok.
I have a plan to go as easy as possible and I already did a few first steps. Here we go:
I've planted the first plant I nicknamed Guinea pig (Sweet skunk from Sweet seeds, Spain) very early (30. 3.) for my latitude (N49, central Europe) because the weather seemed pretty nice and I had nothing to smoke and I was a little impatient:) Next two girls (Auto Mazar, Dutch passion) went in at the end of April...still quite early, but I think it's just right for the two harvests in my conditions.
I've planted them into 0,5 liter cups filled with pre-fertilized soil up about their half and non fertilized soil in the second half for the first few days as babies. They've enjoyed their childhood on the window sill and from time to time I've been putting them out on the balcony when the weather was fine (sometimes using a micro home made greenhouse made from a plastic bottle with ventilating holes made by a nail). All of them were replanted into big pots (8, 12 and 10 liters) during the beginning of May. Since then, they're enjoying outdoor 24h.
Concerning nutes, they got what the soil has for growing and they'll get some bio stuff made from chicken shit for bloom (NPK 5-10-5).
Technically, I don't care much about the hardcore stuff, going more old school, I'm only lowering PH of my well water from cca 7 to cca 6 (using the cheap drops for measuring).
That's how they were doing last two weeks, I intend to post a new pictures during this weekend, since they've made quite a progress because of the weather getting better:
(P. S.: Sorry for any mistakes in English, I'm not a native speaker;))
12. 5.:

And 18. 5. (it was f*cking raining for a week, now the sun is giving'em hell, wait till weekend):

Hello Solomon :tiphat:

Welcome to AFN. I am new to this forum and to cannabis growing but I am an experienced fruit, flower and vegetable gardener.

i am also growing 3 AutoMazar which will go into the ground when they are ready. So will follow your grow to see what happens and how you get on.

Now to your smell problem. I would advise you to go into a garden centre and ask for the following plants; not seeds, plants that are already growing cos you are too late now to start from seed cos your weed is already growing. Jasmine, Star Jasmine, Sweet peas, Honeysuckle (the smelliest variety is Graham Thomas)

they are all climbing flowers/plants, so you can also use them to make a wall of green and fragrance so no one can see what is going on in your balcony.

the Honeysuckle is important because it only smells at night, the others all smell mainly during the day but the jasmine smells day and night.

The smell of AutoMazar is supposed to be low key but the skunk..... I don't know about that.......

anyway welcome and good luck.

Hi, thx for the advice, Jasmine and Lonicera (sorry, I'm not used to English botanic terminology, had to google Honeysuckle, but I like the name now:)) sound like a good idea, maybe I'll try. So far, I have some tomatoes, basil and other plants and herbs there, but even if Sweet Skunk is beginning to bloom heavily, I can smell her only when I'm close, Mazar stinks a bit even if it doesn't bloom yet, but it's just a bit. Nothing to worry, I'll deal with it when the problem occurs, let's hope the breeze will be enough.
Here are some up to date pics of my babies:
Mazar 2, the youngest, 31 days growing, 17 cm high, no flowers yet:

Mazar 1, 37 days, 19 cm, no flowers yet, but I think she'll show some in a few days, beautiful branching there

Guinea Pig aka Sweet Skunk 1, 56 days (according to the seed bank she should be ripe, but as expected, she has about three or four weeks to go), 35 cm (not a big girl, but she went in early and this was again expected, no matter what, she's a pretty one)

And a detail of my oldest one:

Looking good Solomon, i have sweet skunk , super sunk seeds probably will start one off theme next week my auto chesse beery still has 1 month to finish i guess, i'm new on growing cannabis and a balcony grower too.
Will follow your grow till harvest good luck

Greetings to all stopping by, liking and leaving a comment.
Weather was not very kind to my ladies last week, but they're doing well I think.
Here's some up to date pics of my ladies:

First, two pics of the oldest sweet skunk, 62 days old, just getting fat very slowly, conditions are far from ideal for her. I think she'll give me just a little buddies. No vertical growth anymore, still 35 cm. She has only a few brown hairs so far. I didn't made any details this time, the crappy camera I have refused to make a nice focus even if I tried about 30 times.

And the two Mazar girls, showing preflowers at day 37 (left) and 42 (right). Both have grown about 10 cm this week, reaching closely to 30. Marvelous branching, I think they'll end up pretty bushy.

I'd like to ask a question about feeding them. I've read Muddy's advice not to feed them in this phase with bloom stuff, not to stop the growth. Do you think it applies to my chicken shit (N5-P10-K5) fertilizer? I've got another one meant for tomatoes stashed somewhere here (7-4-6), but god knows what that one is made of, even if I believe it should be ok. I'm thinking about giving them this one this Sunday and then switch to shit next week (I usually feed once a week, every second watering, my pots dry about 3-4 days if it does not rain). What do you guys think?
P.S.: I still didn't bought the jasmine, but I'm more and more considering doing so, starting to be afraid of the two Mazar bushes when they grow a little bit more and start putting the buds on during summer. By the way, how far do you think it could smell?

Hello Solomon,

you are leaving things a bit laid back and therefore late, if you are going to have an effective fragrant foil for the smell of the cannabis.

the answer to how far the jasmine would smell is depends on the size of the jasmine. The one at my front gate can be perceived from 200metres away but it's 6 years old and trained over a massive 7 ft high pergola.

If stealth is important to you, I really think you should get a move on and buy a jasmine and a honeysuckle. If I were a nosey unfriendly neighbour, and I thought I smelt marijuana plants, and then suddenly my neighbour planted honeysuckle and jasmine; it would be a no brainier figuring where the marijuana smell had been coming from.

sorry to sound like a mum, but I am a mum. A word is enough for the wise.

plants look good, be sensible

:pighug::thumbs::KISS:

Hi, thx for the second advice, mum. I really appreciate it and I'm really thinking hard about how to manage to get some stinky flowers there from the moment you mentioned them, considering they will have to grow in pots in which they can freeze during the winter and my balcony is not so large to plant it with jungle:( Btw. I didn't ask about the smell of Jasmine, but about the smell of ganja :D However, I'm still not sure my worries are not just a paranoia, so let me explain the situation a bit:
The balcony is 1st floor (the one above the ground floor, to make sure, funny counting in English you got in UK and US, I'm never sure) of a family house. The closest (and the most dangerous) neighbour who can smell it is about 12 meters far directly, however, on that side, the balcony has a low brick wall (about 1m) and in that direction also the roof of my house is and makes kind of a shade. He can be only downstairs. Supposing the smell has more tendency to go up than down, I think the MJ smell would have to be really strong to reach that place. The flowering skunk I have can be smelled up to, say, 3m if I'm above her on a ladder (as u can see from the pics I have some work there going right now). If I'm standing just bellow my balcony on my side of the house, I can't smell anything (neighbour is much further). I'm not sure about UK, but in our country, people (and maybe even the law, not sure about UK's law) are a bit more tolerant to weed, at least in small amounts. However, things might change with more herbs there, so I'll probably try to plant some of yours there and play things wise, just to make my wife and kids safer :D Thanks for kind advices again.
Edit: I'm looking forward to plant some of those climbing plats into the ground after I'll build up a pergola/garage for my car, but I'm reconstructing an old house and it may take a few years to achieve this one;) So far, only the balcony works...

Hello again Solomon,

Noww that I know you have a wife and kid, I am even more concerned at your wait and see attitude.

you say people are tolerant, but I am assuming it is illegal where you live also if not you would not be concerned about the smell.

How far the smell of the Canna travels, I cannot tell you, this is my first ever grow, but my grow is 200 metres away from any outsiders in every direction. However as a veteran gardener I can tell you this, you can't predict nature. Sometimes when I am walking my dogs on a hot night with a breeze, I can smell my Jasmine and Honeysucke from the bottom of my street which is 200 or so metres from the plants. Treat the marijuana as a fragrant flower because that is what it is.

So moving into Mum mode again; once the horse has bolted there is no use closing the stable doors. Or as our US cousins would say, don't be a could have, would have, should have type of guy!!!! A family man should not rely on a hope and a prayer. Be proactive mon ami.

Wow, mum, I'll learn some English idioms here, not just how to grow the herb, my respect! Actually, our law is a bit vague (even according to lawyers), but assuming the usual practice, i can get a fee (even if higher than parking in the wrong place), not a criminal record for planting 3 little girls, but nobody actually knows for sure, it always depends on the judge, how he considers the small amount, and the situation. I know some guys having the herb (photo 2m high) in their front yard (in the country), every neighbour knowing about it and nobody cared. Reckless (is that a right word?) father I am for sure, but I have a plan b of course if things go wrong and somebody actually starts to make problems. I'll simply remove the plants to a safe place. I doubt there'll be police kicking my door before my neighbours start complaining and I'll move it out. However, I'll tell you what I would (and most probably will have to, after she finds out I'm growing again) tell my mum: I promise I'll plant those stinky Jasmines and Honeysuckle there next week and I'll buy a jar of ONA gel (even if to use just for the curing room).
Big respect for your concern and help. Hope to send u a bud or a jar of healing onitment after the harvest :pighug:

My concern about the smell is caused by a bit of nervous attitude as a newbie grower and also because I don't wont to disturb my neighbours if not necessary...
Edit: Et alors, je suis pas francais;)
