Hi Guys

So... as the title goes, I am looking to see if a COB setup could be done for about $300 in a 5x5
I would guess off the bat Citizen Clu048 1212 being the front runner
8 x CLU048 1212
2 x Meanwell Drivers 185 1400B
with the heatsinks and cob holders

What would you guys think

In a 5x5 tent 8 1212 with have you extremely under powered. Even at only 35w per sq ft you would be 18 1212 COBs to get you there. You could do it with 12 CXM22's at 70w each. This would have you saving on heat sinks at leas. 12 CXM22's, holders, thermal pads, 4 hlg-185h-48A drivers and 12 pin heat sinks would be around $740 w/discount. 16 CLU048-1212's, holders, pads, pin sinks and 4 hlg-185h-c1400 drivers would be in the hood' of $817. The CXM22 rig would get you to 33.6w per sq ft and the 1212's would get you to 32w per sq ft which is at least a good start. 8 1212's at 50w would only get you to 16w per sq ft and that just isn't going to get the job done.

Get heatsink bar instead of pin fin. You'll save some money. Also 1-2W fan on top of heatsink will cost you very little (fan is 3-5 bucks and electricy from them is almost zero).
I agree with upper post - get CXM22 or CXM32 or 1818.

Yup Heatsink USA bar sink is what I am running but even at .98cent per inch plus shipping there is over $200 just in heat sink.

I think TME have 1000 or 1200mm heatsink for 40€. You need two, so 80-100€ with shipping.
They have discounts sometimes and I get 1000x160x35 for 35€ with shipping.

Ah man, way over my head then for that then
Best getting looking at other options

Watts per square foot recommendations from photo period forums don't really fit well with autos that receive twice the light hours.

If you have a bunch of blurple lights sitting, you should have a chance of making something cheaper, with the drivers and heatsinks.
