Lighting 5x5 - and $300 budget

For a few bucks more you could go with the 1812's. That's what I use in all of my lights
I will definitely try to replicate the Autocob as far as possible as those are really super amazing
The 1050 driver would be best suited correct?
I shall do an in-depth comparison in the morning to try best decide to go forward, if it is only a few extra bucks I may as well go that route, long run the benefits will be seen.

I would get the 5*5..you always need more room.. I have an 8*8 tent and usually dont even use half the space for plants.. But once you want to dial in your grow space, you'll need the room... Dehumidifier, heaters, extraction fans, ac if you need it, will all take up space in their.. I love having a big tent, i get in and walk around, water and trim.. It keeps everything contained within the tent.. And if i really wanted to pack in a ton of plants, i could..
Cheers

Dude 8 citizens would be a bloody good start for 4 plants whatever the space! Don't listen to the haters. Watts per square feet is fairly meaningless because it assumes all lights are equal. They are not.

A plant will grow very nicely with one 50w cob above it. It will grow much better with two 50w cobs above it!

Get 8 and see how it goes. It couldn't be easier to add more if you want to. Just remember to design your frame with that possibility in mind.

8 1212s and BJB holders, 8 pin fin heatsinks, 2 MW HLG 185's will cost you around £300 / £350 dollar or so.

I really think the 50w/sq/ft deal is a hps thing.. When your dealing with such a limited spectrum you need the intensity.. But with the spectrum cobs are throwing out 25-30 is more than enough..

Walter I think I am with the others here. 8 1212's would be a great start. You can always tighten up and make due if you find you need more but I do believe you can get a pretty nice crop out of 25ft2 with 440w of cobs. I have running on about 370 watt's of 1212's and it is growing beautifully. Those suckers are bright. my space is kind of an odd shape but I have 6 adults growing in their with one juvenile.

Current view.

@Jimmyclone your spot on bro. I have been reading your comments and agreeing 100% since day 1. Build it but build it where it can be easily expanded if it's not enough.

I personally think you'll be fine.

Same page with you too hippy. Hps and cobs are not the same and the wpsf does seem to be of the hps standard. Just don't forget autos are nothing like photos as far as feeding and light goes.
