Mephisto Genetics 6 Sour Cracks in 1/2 pots of Coco, fed by drip stakes. Under 110 Watts of Cobs

Man, AFN is a dangerous place. Every time I go exploring I find new ways to grow this stuff that are just crushing it and it makes me stop and re-evaluate if I'm on the right path. Thanks for the self-doubt, @slowandeasy !

Seriously though, great journal! Hard to argue with such killer results. Quick question though - I'm currently growing in 2 gallon Hempy buckets with Growstone (a recycled glass perlite alternative) and hand watering once a day with a KISS/Lucas formula feed. You mentioned something along the lines of your setup not working with hydro - why is that? Assuming I don't mind hand watering multiple times a day (I'm home a lot) is there any reason why I couldn't/shouldn't switch my setup a bit to smaller pots like yours and get similar results?

By hydro I mean no medium at all. A 1/2 Gal pot with just nute water and roots would NOT do well. Many people do well with small hempy's of perlite, like @Roasty McToasty. I cannot comment on your medium, but Coco works very well in combination with smaller pots. Soil plants will not yield nearly as well in such small pots. Choosing the right strains is important as well. Some strains do better with rootbounding than others. If you need any help with anything in the future give me a pm. Peace, slow

I use str8 coco on top of str8 perlite res.

Are you doing any small pots these days?
Oh yea deffo, just finished some 8oz. plants and i think i prefer the smaller plants that are almost all bud. 1/2 gallon coco is my favorite setup. I could've fit 6-8 smaller plants in the space of those bigguns and probably beat the yield, plus trimming big plants suck. Preaching to the choir here.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification! For what it's worth, the Growstone performs pretty similarly to perlite and it's much more durable so far to boot. Doesn't crush/turn to dust nearly as easily, etc. (And I'm not associated with the company, btw. Just been doing some of my own testing this grow.) Thanks for the extra info, I've got a bit to think about now...

Yeah, I have to be honest I think the quality is better too. No waste.

Not in coco, but I'm also in the more plants = more fire crew. We pretty much thin our plants out for only primo/main nugs these days.

But of course there are people in places that have to eke out the maximum from single big plants, and I respect that too
