I just got a 1000 watt Apollo dimmable electronic ballast and hood, but no bulb. I want to test the unit but all i have is my new 600 watt MH and want to be sure before I try it. My understanding of how the works says it should be fine, BUT...

better to ask those who may know!

Well from what I know your supposed to have the highest output bulb and dim down.

I could be wrong but that's what my nanolux manual says

I would not do that put the bulb you want to use like set it on 600 and put a 600 bulb in.

I have a 600 watt digital ballast I set it to 400 watt and put a 400 watt bulb in then when its bloom time change the bulb and put a 600 watt in and set it to 600watt hope that helps the bulb are post to run at the given watt

yep that's what I was getting at. I want to test the ballast but all I have is a 600watt MH. I figured if I set it to 50% it should be ok but on the other hand, I can't risk blowing a bulb, I'm so over budget now I'll be broke for 2 months! lol

Dimming the bulb has a negative impact on the spectrum of light being produced, as well as producing less overall light. Something to consider
