9 day old sour d light bleaching

I like the regular with 1-2 tbsp dolomite lime per gallon, and 20% extra perlite

.... A8 is a Control Wizard product; it's not a substitute for a pH meter, that's for testing liquids only; the A8 soil only,...
..follow the directions to the letter, including using RO/DI water only, not pH'ed on the final pour for collection...you want a "snap-shot" of what the soil is like under typical conditions,.. using pH'ed/hard water will skew the results....
..if you had brown, flaccid roots, likely they were rotted, and so a contributing factor to they rough start... I use larger, 32oz styro' cup for seedlings.. well insulated, easy to make holes in and tall so the roots can dive in deeper,.. 24's are okay too, but you'll need to transplant/tier sooner,....
... :smoking: yes, Roots makes good soil! 707 is what many fine growers here use, as it's mild; most add extra lime, Ag lime, oyster shell, or a fast acting man-made product,.. super fine dolomite is okay, but of all the limes, it's the slowest acting, needing weeks usually to start affecting things,.. if it's course grain, months! Great for longer term grows, not for auto's though! And no matter what soil you use, always check it's pH before anything else is done,.. shitty batches happen! I got fucked by a bad bag this season, from an otherwise excellent brand I'd been using for 2 seasons,....

O ya ill be buying a oakton ph2 tester i think its called off amazon and the accurate 8. So u like the greenfields better than the regular @Waira?
Ill have to get some oyster shells to add alkalinity to the soil it sounds like. The lime i got was from home depot in those smaller round balls not the pellets that the same brand makes.

Is it true if you just keep watering with 6.5 phd water ur soil will buffer to that? So no oyster shells if thats true ha.

Whats the diffrence between707 and the regular roots organic? Other than mild? Does more perilite need to be added?

I just visited my local nursery and all they had was happy frog in the brown bag 2 cubic feet.
Is that any good? And amendments u guys recomend? @Waira

Well, FF soils have been dubious for some time now,.. many people are getting badly acidic bags, but HF seems to be better than OF for this,.. other folks get bags that are fine,... HF is popular for autos because it's pretty mild, but a bit heavy, so added perlite is wise,...Carl, all I can say about FF soils is if you can't test the actual bag you buy, it's not worth the risk,...only way to do that is with a soil pH probe, like the Accurate 8, or an expensive professional model,...
...what brand of lime? Is it a processed fast release type? ... 707 is fine as is, Original too...

My accurate 8 is on its way i cant wait to see how to use it. Its the organic brand from home depot ill have to take a look its tiny little balls of lime.

Sounds like the lime I get, like tiny granules, mine is espoma garden lime, probably slow release, I beat the hell out of it with a hammer to make it a bit more fine grade, and it probably works faster too
