@ Time Traveler - Basically, that looks like about a million other Chinese phony "lamp glass" beads, only it doesn't have a hole in it. You can find something similar in just about any Craft Store, and a heck of a lot cheaper too. I swear, the Head Shops just see us tokers coming!

No arguments there; I've seen some insanely overpriced stuff in some shops. This is all a new field to me, as I tend to use smaller pipes and bongs, so I haven't really seen a need to get anything like a screen before.

I've always been fond of small pipes too. If they fit in my pocket, I'm good to go. But one of these days real soon, I'm going to try one of those herbal blend vaporizer pens. I've never vaped yet, and I'd like to try it. I've also been looking at some of those little 4-stage grinders. Now those look very useful. I really like the idea that the kief always falls to the bottom level. That'd sure make it easy to make some quick hash....Mmmmmmm Yummy!

And do you happen to have any tips on what to look for in a good grinder? I've seen both plastic and metal ones but the metal ones sure look like they'd do a better job.

Nuggz,when i bought my herbal air vape they sent me a nice hardwood grinder it about 2 in.dia.with little spikes built in to the wood i have had it for a year now,use it every day,with no problems.The only problem is the sticky flower get hung in the little spikes,and it only has one chamber.Peace.

That said, I wonder if any manufacturing outfit has elected to coat the grinder teeth with Teflon yet? It probably could only be done in the metal grinders, but it seems like that might solve the problem.

I wonder if it might do with Teflon's problems with wear. My understanding is that it doesn't hold up to scraping well, which is why you should never use metal cooking utensils with Teflon coated pans. Since a grinder is pretty much all about the plant material being scraped between the teeth I would think it could wear off real quick, and getting that stuff in something your going to burn and ingest the smoke from could be bad news.

I've used a couple of the metal versions, and luv 'em. Next one will probably have a keif catcher. I can get some nice half to full bowl loads when I clean mine out, but having a more purpose built chamber for it would be nice. Maybe start trying to get enough collected to make getting a pollen press worth it. :smoking:

Its not really a big issue,for me,i just dig out any herb with a small stem.The one i have has a nice smooth action,i like wood,i,ve been a woodworker for 40 years.I made a nice little pipe out of red cedar,i,ve used it for about a year now.I dropped all the glass pipes i,ve owned.My cedar pipe will not break when dropped.Peace.

The new stuff is not called Teflon, but I can't think of the word. Anyway, it's not supposed to flake off like Teflon does. The old Teflon stuff was supposedly outlawed because of the health risks.

Anyway, check out this video! You don't even need a press! A lot of folks just use a regular old iron; like the kind used to iron clothes. Very simple. I luv it!

Nuggz I honestly grew up near a rural hippie commune with counterculture parents seen pipes also cleaned with tree branches lol all about the natural man in rural Oregon
