UPDATE -

hey AFN ,tryed to update last night & lost the lot !.

White dwarfs in airpots - these girls lower leaves have browned & curled more but i guess that the damage was already done so can expect this ... but they are looking a little greener & a bit more perky!..... theres a bit of new growth which also looks a bit pale though ??. I gave them 1ltr between them 0f just formulex at full strenth(5ml) & PH 6.5 but did not get any run off from this so couldn't check it. I need to work out some sort of watering/feeding schedual for soil/airpots(6 & 10 lt) ...any ideas would be great !.

In the bucket is - 60 ml Canna Rhizotonic.
- 25 ml Formulex.

PH 5.8

EC 1.0

Water level is at the base of the net pot (a happy medium between my two mentors opinions!).

I have to say im not to sure about this Mammoth... she has already had a bad start & been treated badly before she even saw the light of day i seem to do something fundermentally wrong every time & with this girl it was packing down the rockwool to hard & to much of it.Another mistake i wont make again ....

I have half a mind to chop all these & start again again again :hot: think things would go better with a mazar maybe ?...got work in morn so got to go but week off soon & then i'll be on here all day :thumbs:

Hi Goauto, they had 2 ltrs 48hrs ago at 6.4 & runoff was 7.2 .... gave them 1 ltr a couple hrs ago (between them) but no runoff.Should i water again tomorrow or wait a bit ?. (6 ltr pots)

thats what I thought,.......this is for soil, hydro should be 5.5 to 5.6...




Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

Keep it simple for your first DWC run mate. I would recommend only using formulex and rhizotonic for the first few weeks. Do not feed the recommended 10 ml/litre of formulex! start at 2ml per litre and work up. Its a very light feed and will be more forgiving if you overfeed with it. First time around with DWC I started off with canna aqua vega and even at low doses encountered burns etc. Another tip if you overshoot with pH down add 1-2ml of silicone to bring the pH back up. Try not to add it in more than 2-3ml increments as it will raise your pH very fast even in 20 litres of solution. 0.02

For your airpots when you feed try this-1/2 liter ph water/1 liter feed/1/2 liter ph water-DubV taught me that!

HEY little grey friend ! .. Thanks thats great PH info there ,i think i may have read it before ?.Was it one of JM's ?. PH the manual ... very handy to have on here now :smokebuds:easy refferance,cheers ...... so ,if i put in 6.4 & got 7.2 (diff. 8) - 7.2 +.8=8 ? . if thats right should i flush with lower PH?. say 5.5 or 6.0 ? ph 8 sounds bad ?..thanks for looking in G

thanks very much BB that sounds like a plan :thumbs: & silica for UP :clap:brilliant ! . i put to much DOWN in when i made the res & used an extra 5ml of rhizo to bring it back up. god tip :booya:

you got it id go down to 5.4 atleast for 2 flushes then on the 3rd watering go back to 6.5 and see what it says.
