So I grabbed a couple of these earlier this year for starting my veggie seedlings, having had good luck with this vendors lower power led panels.
They are bright as fuck, and don’t get too warm, but I had a really hard time getting plants to be happy with them. They were either getting burnt, or seeming like they had no light at all, and didn’t really make much progress. A really small envelope of happy distance from the lamp so to speak. Having said that that, the plants under these seemed to harden off really easy, prolly cause they were used to getting blasted haha.
A little poking around on the internet and it looks like this a modified and rebranded street lamp, I’ll dig up the link later.
Edit:The driver is by this company, I assume the rest too
The other led panels I have used do not have a lens over the chips, this one does. Is it possible the lens is focusing the light to the point where I’m getting some ants under a magnifying glass style action? I have other lights, so I’m not obligated to use these, but if I can, I’d like to.
Anyone use these or similar lights? Any suggestions?

Interesting lights, they look like they should do the job.

The lenses are intended to focus the light downwards, trading coverage for better light intensity in the reduced area covered. The upside is being able to use them further from the plant, thereby getting better "penetration". The downside is reduced area covered, so the need for more lights.

It is likely that any light burn you have experienced was contributed to by the lenses, but that should have been avoidable by following the distancing instructions provided by the manufacturer. Also, I do not understand why your plants do not respond better to your attempts to reduce light intensity. Perhaps something else was going on to enhance the burn or interfere with response at lower light levels, or perhaps you reduced the light too much.

Sorry I can't be more help. I will be interested to see what else you get from more experienced growers here.

Firstly, they advertise these as 300 watt HPS equivalents but a 300w produces higher ppfd. Their advertised PPFD would be suitable for mothers/rooted clones but not enough to flower a decent sized plant.

In second thought their advertised ppfd is really shady marketing that they probably didn't even take the time to throw a PAR meter under it to measure. They way they show their PAR values is incorrect and dubious.

Use them if you like but I think they are inadequate for growing even as supplemental lighting.

Well, the reality was they were really cheap when I bought them, so my expectations were pretty low. I guess I got what I paid for haha.

Buuuut, looking back to the plants ( I started 40 something hot pepper seeds) that have suffered under these lights, I had a bunch of other environmental issues that I’m sure didn’t help(low 60s, very low humidity). And they did make it outside where they hardened off really easy compared to the seedlings I had in better conditions under fluorescents. Also, a handful of the varieties I started are purple plants, or purple varigation, and they were super dark under these lights. Much darker than the same variety under flouros. So there must be something going on haha. Sidelights maybe? It would make a mighty nice streetlight also haha.
Thanks for the thoughts folks, I realize this probably seems rambling and pointless.
