So, I put my buds into paper grocery bags and opened and turned the buds around each day and checked on how dry they were getting. Well I checked them this morning and they felt dry, but the stems didn't snap and still had some "bend" in them.
I'm afraid I let them get too dry. They seemed to have some spongy feel in them yesterday , that seemed gone today.
Can I add some Boveda packs to add moisture back into the buds? I'm aware that the "cure" will not happen if they went to far, but adding some moisture back could help the way it smokes. Any ideas or tips on rescuing my buds? Some of you know this is my first grow in a long time, I want to try to save it as best I can after doing my best to screw up my grow throughout, lol.

Bud drys from the outside in, when there just getting crispy on the outside, in the jar they go. The moisture from the not fully dry stem will equal out the bud as you burp it down to 62%

This is where the difference between bend & snap come in

@Deke I live in a desert and drying during the summer is a real challenge to keep the bud from over-drying. I have dried some as low as 40%, they just went from 75% to 40% overnight :yoinks:. I have used Boveda 62s with great results on many occasions. So to answer your question yes use them. If you caught it early enough (you did) the Bovida will re-hydrate the buds and they will cure ok. Maybe loose a little of the more volatile terpenes but you might not even notice. Homegrown is just that much better than commercial crops.

@Deke I did something similar recently. I had dried mine in a brown bag inside a box in my tent for around 5 days. Then in the jar and all seemed fine for a day or so. Then around the 3rd day I noticed the meter was reading 74% so I figured I would just throw them back in the bag in the am and then back in the jar when I got home from work. Well, I forgot that I was working a double shift and when I finally got home and jarred them back up the meter was now reading 52% so I threw in my Boveda 62 and and the numbers came back up. I took out the Boveda (as I wanted to see what it would read without any help) and it has been bouncing from 62% to 64% the last couple days. Have you put in a Hygrometer in with it to see how dry it is? You may find that you're not as bad off as you think.

The buds gained some moisture back into them when they spent some time in the jars. They still have that chlorophyll smell, but I'm hoping there is enough moisture left and that it will still cure.
I did cut down a BB last night and a WW tonight, those I'm going to jar much earlier and open the jars several time a day. Fingers crossed I won't over dry this time. Winter sucks for this, I checked every room on 3 floors of my house and 40% was the highest I could find.

I’m drying WW at 40% RH right now that’s the highest I can get now and they have been fine with nice slow dry so far. On day 3 now looking pretty good so I wouldn’t worry too much about the 40%

I've got 2 jars at 61%, one at 58%. Two plants in paper bags right now, and one more later this week. Hoping the 58% jar isn't too far.

58 is fine

It doesnt sound like they went too far. If there is some bend there is some moisture content.
I find putting the bud in a plastic bag, turkey bag is best, for 24 hours will help it sweat back. Then you can go back to rack or paper bag, or even to the jar and start burping.
5 to 7 drying
24 hours sweat back
3 days in a jar
= 10 day plant to bag

There are signs you can look for to know when to pull it off the rack. I look for the branch nodes to slightly turn a darker color and begin shrivelling. At this point there will be very little snap, but this is the best time to pull it to slow down the dry/cure process.
Catch it right, and after the sweat back, it will still feel very moist. 3 days in a jar @75 degrees and RH less than 50% and youll see it slowly cure out to what you want.

I realize a month long cure commands a better flavor profile, just giving a run down of how we do it. Back in the OG days in LA they used to have it plant to bag in 6 days.
