Lighting Advice about switching from CFL to HPS ...

Hi,

i am reading about the sunmaster 250w dual spec bulbs, in the spec sheet it says that the base temperature can reach 250 degrees C and the bulb can reach 400 deg C !!

Can anyone who has experience of 250W HPS bulbs, how hot do these things get ?

i was using a 600w hps before i went with LED lights and they do get hot, but with a cool tube all the heat is vented to the outside. peace bro

i use a 600 watt in a cooltube and with a decent fan its fine. 250 shouldnt be too bad. try and get a newer type theyre supposed to be much better. the older ones lose a lot of light due to their design and have a poor light footprint, im upgrading to a different one next grow myself. the newer type has a hood attached outside instead of the older type with one side of the glass containing a metal reflector itself.

any sealed air cooled hood will help alot anyway cooltubes are just simple and cheap options..
