Has anyone used either air pots or smart pots? I am thinking about it for my upcoming grow. Would like to hear how it has worked for others.

Hey, nothing better that try it out and see if it fits to you, but i must say, the most impressive grows i have ever seen had air pots, theres alot of stunting grows in AFN using them  I'am tempted to try it out for my next girl.

Peace

I'm currently using airpots 3L and 6L feel free to have a look at my grows the 3L airpots had some beautiful plants produced about 50g dry each..... Best of luck brother

I'm currently using smart pots but being my 1st grow I'm not sure if they have been helpful or not.

Hey tj

I use square pots primarily (and a circular if i must haha) but know a little about each.
The dudes at my local hydro store swear by the smartpots, and don't really know alot about
the airpots, but only because they don't use them so haven't been exposed.
It's all gonna come down to what works for you though dude, I tried the 3L airpot and got amazing growth, so much it outgrew the pot really because it could drink all the water I poured in in like 12 hours! It was hot so I ended up watering 2-3 times a day and was not worth my time in the end.

Don't worry, because I went back and simply bought the 12l size which I am testing during my hot months!

My final word: It is the same technology and it is a proven root technology. I prefer the airpots for their rigidity and because I would prolly get noid about disturbing the root system, but I have not tried smartpots yet, but know I've seen their results. I think they may have an advantage outside because they may not get "black colored plastic" level of hot in the open sun or something, but also keep in mind that airpots are always reusable and in smartpots their roots get stuck in the size when they grow into it and you have to wash it in the washer after a grow and deteriorate after a certain number of cycles. Still pretty much always will come down to looks and personal preference
since
I Think they're both just as messy LOL

sorry the post is a clusterf-:smoke:

I've used both. I find smart pots to be a PITA indoors. They have to be raised off the floor to allow air circulation under the pots. I found this to be more trouble than they were worth in my small, tight space. Outdoors they worked great where I had more room. Air pots do produce larger plants but can take a long time to water. If the water is given too quickly it just runs out the top holes. So it has to be given slowly so it has a chance to soak in. Air pots also dry out quicker so a soil mix that holds water better would be recommended. Under LEDs I find that Pro Mix BX works well, allowing about 4-5 days between waterings with mature plants.

Many thanks guys for the information. I'll report on how it goes.
