Indoor Air pots - worth it? And what size for a small grow?

I'm definitely leaning more towards the 6L now, last thing I want is to find myself out of room half way through and have to chop the top off or something, 140cm really isn't much room for height once you account for lighting and pot height, thanks for the info man!

If you LST (low stress train) your auto your space will be plenty for a auto in 15lt pot or you could do a bit of super cropping or both. If you do a photo strain then size is never really a problem as you can manipulate the plant to how you see fit but that mean longer grows since autos are a quick as they get all depends on what type of growing style you're after you'll find the right way fo yourself soon

So is it pretty easy to avoid height issues if I train it? What's the best way to do this? Sorry for the total newbie question, I'm still new to all this growing stuff

Or you could go with four 3liter pots with three weeks between them. Harvest a plant every three weeks and plant a new one at the same time..
Then you can grow more genetics and have more plants to learn the act of growing on.

We just fuck up your mind now with more and more info and options...lol

I use the yellow bottom, 2.2gal, 8.4L airpots for my autos. Not to good for photos IMHO, they dry to quickly with a big old photo growing in them is my biggest complaint, so I use 5 gal smart pots (felt pots) for them, but I digress.
I think an air pot is a good investment. The plants grow well in them, they just need a bit of getting used to is all. As for the size, I would go with fitting two in your tent. If they get to tall LST will work well as others have said. Two plants should fit, I would get nervous only having one plant growing at a time!!
Peace and happy growing.

Im thinking of it as a hempy style dwc hybrid,
if looking at it like a raised netpot, do you think the roots at the bottom being submerged in the res 24/7 would compensate for the small pot and give it dwc like growth?
thanks heaps

I think Groff had some Auto Mazar that did that, they grew out the bottom into a rev with bubbling nutes, crazy sight.

Yeah I am sure that a pot with holes in it will dry out faster but I am just as sure that it will not air prune the roots and make any different for root growth and that is just what an air pot does.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you.

By definition; this is air pruning:

  1. Air pruning happens naturally when roots are exposed to air in the absence of high humidity. The roots are effectively “burned” off, causing the plant to constantly produce new and healthy branching roots. If roots are not exposed to air, they continue to grow around the container in a constricted pattern.

One image search for "DIY air pruning pots" shows me a ton of images with buckets with holes drilled in them (or various containers with a lot of holes.) One youtube search shows me videos of plants grown in pots with holes drilled in and those not. I have also literally done the side by side comparison myself and, in my humble opinion based on reading about it and physically doing it myself, I would say there is definitely air pruning occurring even with those DIY pots. Air pruning is not exclusive to the manufacturer of "air pots."

I'm not making a case that DIY air pots are as effective as commercially manufactured ones; but I will make a case that DIY air pots do indeed air prune.

But hey, agree to disagree, right? :Sharing One:

Everything started out diy at some point !
