Grow Mediums Am I insane or a lot of people are using the WRONG pH !!!

so you are saying you start at 6.0 ?

this goes against everything ive ever known or been told about hydro ph

i am always trying for 5.5-5.8 , never higher never lower , not intentionally anyway , and at the end or nearing the end ive always gone out of my way to keep it @ 5.8 , monitoring it daily , sometimes twice a day , ive always seen the old ph chart thats been posted for years and it seems to coincide , but this newer chart being posted seems different somehow , it makes me wonder if it is legit or just thrown together by some grower no different then any of us

That chart is right off the Current Culture web site and what they recommend for their RDWC systems, which is what I'm using. After the problems I had my first grow I was going to go strictly by their recommendations this grow. But as I said, right off the bat I got pH lockout at 6.2. Soon as I dropped to 6.0 it cleared up. I wouldn't necessarily take what they recommend for their systems and apply it to DWC as RDWC does have different requirements.

Well let me report that I was already at 6.0 (and thinking of rising) early flower when I posted this, and dropped both my systems to 5.8 and WOW !! Like double-honey-coated WOW

Seriously, I'm still kind of in shock how I went a year and a half since starting with coco going the wrong way... Now I really think 2 gpw is perfectly feasible. My best ever was 1.7

Thanks for the EC/pH comparison. I needed that. I was wondering what was happening when my ppm goes up 100 points overnight (after res change) but the pH is solid.

depends on the charts you use for examples of hydro ph, trust me though when you been growing long enough you automatically see signs in the plants if something is wrong

I definitely do see a VAST difference in general health and speed of flower formation. And also why my autos took 100 days to finish before.
I'm on mid flowering and I dropped to 5.7. Never had such low EC before, 1.4, and I can see this will be my biggest yielder to date if they keep at it 3 more weeks.

Not a deficiency in sight, nice lush green, I used same PK regime as always and 3 out of 8 plants dont like it, too much for them, clawed down and dark green. They're also the smallest so it could be a more sensitive pheno. Nothing I can do though, its RDWC

Anyways, I highly recommend everyone try a bucket to see how they fly!

I've tried 5.7 - 5.8 in unamended Pro Mix and had issues. 6.2 - 6.4 has always worked best for me.

Funny this is one of the first ph charts I've ever seen. I use soiless but I treat it more like soil I just won't let it get above 6.8. But I always been kind of confused because I hear people say its ok to go 6.3 some I've seen lower but I've also seen people say how they have cal mag problem I don't know if this has to do with it but if you look at the chard anything under 6.4 is going to lockout cal and mag, so I've always try to stay at 6.5 or 6.6 and I've have yet to see a lockout problem I actually have a beautiful blue diesl that has had not problems what so ever and my ph stays at 6.5-6.7, my first grow everytime I tried to go lower I started to see problems. That's my 2cents
