Harvest & Curing Amber tricomes vs. Mostly white pistils (medical grow)

I have an interesting situation in my garden. I grow DP's CBD Kush for my wife's medication for some serious pain issues she has from her MS. She prefers to have it so she can smoke first thing in the morning and not be stuck in her bed all day so I prefer to harvest it first thing when I start spotting the amber tricomes to achieve that good energetic -vibe.

This time around I have been having somewhat different experience with the current phenotype. She has been taking her time about two weeks longer than normally and now produced really nice yeild. Today I spotted couple of amber tricomes among vastly cloudy field of tricomes, I think I spot just couple of clear ones also. Amber would be an indicator for me to harvest but I see that the pistils are mostly white still.

I usually have had them about 70% brown at this stage and I need some expert advice. Intention is to have maximum nice medical stuff, not that "wow man I am baked out of my mind and cannot move" -variety.

Typically, amber trichs will give more of a couch lock effect rather than the energetic "up" highs that are usually associated with clear-cloudy trichs.

I would suggest taking a broader view of the plants trichs and if they look "to your tastes" all over, harvest away - if its just the top buds that have started to look right, but not the rest, just take the tops and give the bottoms a bit longer!

I personally like to wait until as many of the hairs have receeded as possible, but i don't grow for meds, just for a knock out high!

Thank you. I will take a complete "scan" of the plants at the weekend and see if I will just go for the tops or the whole plant. I would imagine it would be quite a shock for the plant to lose the tops and the rest will mature pretty soon after that because of the extreme torture?

I guess so!

I think the rest of the plant continues to mature at a normal rate. I've not personally partially harvested but there are plenty here who do. I just need to dry it all at the same time, - my growing cab is my drying cab

I get my meds from an afghan/kush dominant set of crosses.
Not the one you are growing but since you mention the ambers we are probably in the same med field.

Early harvest with milky trics should give your lady an energetic Up high for day time meds which she will Enjoy..and will keep her day pain at bay.

BUT..taken late with max Ambers will give her Great MS relief.

There is nothing that you can get on prescription that treats muscle spasming and nerve pain like it..so it should Help her a Lot.

The downside of heavy amber is that it will knock the legs out from under her for about 4 DAYS..until she gets used to it..
But..I always Advise people to Enjoy this..coz the sleep is deep and restful..and that is something most of us chronic sickies don't get enough of.

The sleep itself is Healing...and I normally wake up with a Happiness hangover..the loosening effect and feel good factor is long lasting.

You should have no Problem doing a multiple harvest point..:tiphat:..Good Luck...

Thanks a bundle with all the guidance, Blue and Mossy! I will definately check if I do early harvest for the other and late harvest for the second plant and have time -specific meds That actually makes a lot of sense and a good quality sleep is essential in managing MS.


So guess I wont worry about the pistils much..

well there is a toss up for medical needs and where your meds are at dude.i got MS too, among a host of other fairly crappy issues.but imo you'll routinely see the affy gals come up unless its a really nice sati dom fully ambered up.which in my experiences usually work well at 40% amber or there abouts.and i like blends too.Id almost bet you that would work well for her too.especially if your doing any oils and similar. but this Black Stone(Stone Dragon Fem.)took right about 85-90 days or so.but alone or with a combo in a sati dom doobie or brownie meds like a full on amber really work well at 50% or more.but thats how i use my meds for similar issues so ...err..lmfao sorry freshly bal

Worth getting your Lady to Test bud as the cross matures..take a small bud every week from week 7..overnight dry..not too Fast...then smoke and write down the Effect...then you start to plot an Ideal Harvest point for her.
