Harvest & Curing Amber tricomes vs. Mostly white pistils (medical grow)

I have two ladies just starting to go into flower in the same DWC. I believe I will harvest one clear/cloudy, and the other with just a bit of amber to judge the difference for myself.

The amber color, by my understanding, is THC degrading to CBN. CBN increases the "couchlock" affect and increases the pain relief. For me, at least with Indica dominant strains, I avoid amber trichs. My Blue Dragon would knock me cold for a week with amber trichs!

I wonder how much truth there is to the whole clear/amber thing. I have seen, of course, tons of people saying when to harvest for different effects, but I have also read some stuff saying that the whole thing is a myth. So is it true, or not? Some material says that strain alone determines whether or not you will get an "up" high, and that clear/cloudy/amber is really just an indicator of ripeness and only affects the potency, with the caveat that amber produces a sort of sickly feeling rather than a high. These materials say that you should always harvest as close to all milky as possible.

What is the truth of this?

its my understanding that, CBD does not degrade into CBN. I'm sure there is a sub compound it degrades to, I'm just not sure if anyone has bothered to check that scientifically yet or not.

Since I grow 1:1 ratio CBD and THC, does CBD also degrade to CBN when the tricomes go amber, resulting in less CBD?

I did not. I thought I had a couple more weeks left, woke up one morning and saw a little amber.. So they both got chopped. Very very little amber on either. It's good solid smoke, too.
