Outdoor An noob's outdoor grow log, without much logging...

Nice harvest bro and sending some healing karma your way :karma Cloud:

@Buckets The reason he has mulch in there is to help keep the water in he still has the pots full of dirt just mulch on top

Thanks, I found the tan smart pots with handles to be quite handy and easy to conceal...I also took heat absorption into consideration when I decided against black. At high altitude the sun can really turn up the heat on black surfaces and I am generally more worried about overheating than cold/frost.

The mulch is just a top layer to cover the soil...I read it helps keep bugs out and helps retain moisture by keeping evaporation down on the surface of the soil. I also used the chips to prop up some of the weaker seedlings in the wind, some that made it to harvest. The red chips even blend in with the natural soil in my region which is an orange-red-brown clay consistency. The soil I used, just to revisit that, was FFLW for seedlings in 18 oz tiered cups till 3 weeks then straight FFOF in the 5 gallon smart pots.

I decided on starting a winter grow indoors. I'm going to re-use my six 5-gallon smart pots and plan to grow super tight and small like 3-5 seeds per pot of autoflowering non-feminized strains. The plan is get as many seeds as possible for next spring's outdoors grow, the idea then being as many plants growing as possible with the least support and $ possible notwithstanding the little work I like to do....though I understand I'll have to pull out the male's during the outdoor grow to get good buds. I may even keep two separate grows in the winter, one where I pull the males to get some good buds and one where I leave it grow au naturale so I can harvest seeds and some joint buds. I just want to harvest seeds galore over the winter because I realized buying seeds online is absolutely my most expensive cost for growing. Then come next spring I will be able to experiment and grow on the scale I want to. Looks like I might be investing in an LED light soon.

I hope your recovery is going well amendment64 and glad you made it, sending out good vibes.
man you did some good prep work with those autos for them to just carry on like they did, well done. they grew way better than my last effort.
