I think you'd have to be pretty small minded to think we are the only being in this vast Universe... With that said, I am the kind of person who has to see something for himself to believe it.

I would reply to the alien theory like this. We are the aliens we put ourselves here to breed due to our home planet or what ever is diseased and dying. We are an attempt to populate and strive just elsewhere pretty simple.

We know what technology we have at the moment because we humans aka aliens, gave it to ourselves. Look back in time you will see when technology exploded even though there wasn't a need for it. Ever hear of the 5000 yr old battery device found in Iraq ?

Like the OP said there is proof all over the place but we the aliens don't wan't it out in the open. Why ? Well because our mother earth is very unique. Not all galaxies have what we have to offer, this is why they don't want us to leave the planet or strive for contact. We are in the best place we could be the aliens( we ) know that. It's for our own good.

The day we discover alien life is when they all come down to harvest our DNA for genetics and wipe the planet clean again, kinda like we do when we get strains of weak and undeserving to live plants.

That is us at the moment.. Surreal thoughts yeah ?

i doubt we have had a chance for any meaningful or beneficial contact from outside our planetary system.

i bet it is more likely some humans knowing what we know now or near that, managed to screw things up pretty good. whether it be war or just social i ertia pushing that civilation into a dark age ehere skills and tech are lost till the next group of somewhat intelligent sapiens( us) come along and figure it out from square one again.

Rome is a terrific example of lost tech. concrete being tje prime example from their fall. luckily, rome was not the only power of any consequence so, just romes more unique advancements were lost.

people can move rocks. with enough people people can move huge rocks. no one said it was easy for them im sure it was amazingly hard but they did it, same as building huge skyscrapers isnt easy but get enough people together and materials and you have one.
stonehenge, easter islands these are all just sites of worship or similar, look at what religious leaders have made followers do, cathedrals, the vatican and so many other things i cant think of since im wrecked.

when people say we have no explanation for them its that there is no evidence left after so long when all that was involved was people and maybe wood and rock, it is pre-historic times
also on hieroglyphs etc we interpret based on our experience and have an ability to recognise what we want. people look at the clouds and can see faces etc, these are all just inbuilt functions of our brain to help us function(relevant nowadays or not) recognise parents, dangers, social reasons etc.

im not saying there are no aliens i would think there is, as you say with something so huge as the universe but that is also part of it. the universe is unfathomably huge that unless they could master ftl travel it really wouldnt be worth their time to come here and stack rocks and have sex with some random ape hotty and so far as we know speed of light is the fastest anything can go. not saying we/anyone couldnt make a discovery but theres alot that says thats true.
just cause something isnt fully explained or seems a bit strange the default answer shouldnt be aliens, angels, bigfoot etc. there are mutations, even nowadays that cause rapid bone growth, gigantism, mishapen forms etc.
most of the "mysterious artifacts" that alot of stories come from could easily be faked how would you know that the "scientist/archeologist" doesnt have an alterior motive or is a fraud looking for money, a book deal or anything..
if you or anyone wanted to check research papers etc then that would be what id say to do not just watching youtube and tv because they are entertainment and are biased.
