I just began germinating 1 NL Auto and 1 Critical Cure Auto from Herbies. I am excited to make up for the mistakes I made in my current grow. My biggest mistake was over fert and poor soil choice (Scotts Super Soil and MG Perlite.)

I want to keep things simple and cost effective for now. I already own GH Nutes and I'd like to continue using these as they are a bit pricey.

I have read that FF Ocean Forest, cut with Light Warrior, perlite and added dolomite is a good mix. I imagine I would just have to add bloom nutes 1/2 strength for an auto around week 3.

I also have read that Roots Organic amended with perlite and some Dolomite is a good mix and this is the mix I am leaning towards because I only have to buy 1 bag of medium

Which of the two mixes would be best for my autos?

Also, which mix can I just add my germinated seed to since I don't want to pot up? Or maybe I n need to add the germinated seed to a peat pellet, let it mature for a week then plant in mix.

Any help is greatly appreciated.. Thx

I've used FFOF and Roots. Roots drains a lot better (no need to add extra perlite really...it has coco which drains quick and perlite already in it) and I would choose Roots. Hands down 100% better for starting seeds. It's super easy to burn auto's in FFOF. Go with Roots and keep the ph around 6.5 .

This is what Breeder Subcool from TGA seeds thinks:

Roots organic will tend to give a more floral flavor and scent

FFOF will tend to lend a more fruity scent and flavor.

Both are good base soils.

I read this from his 2012 supersoil recipe on High Times magazine.

So two year old info, do with what you will.

Peace

Thank you... Yes, I've read his recipe. It's a bit more than I want to get involved with. I wish I just had a friend that made Supersoil and I could go over and grab a few buckets:)

I got the Roots Organic. It's reallly nice stuff. So airy. Way better than the almost-clay I bought at Home Depot :)

I mixed in a little extra perlite and a few table spoons of dolomite then filled some 3 gallon smart pots. Good to Go!

sweet man, I'm glad you like it. Sounds like you are good to go. Happy Growing!
