arty send me a few of those seed please!!!!

Hey LittleT

Just ordered some Gigantomo seeds. they cost me £7.94 for six, this includes postage and packing which cost more than the seeds themselves.

I have to wait until the end of Febuary before they get sent to me.

In the description there is no mention of them being F1 or anything like that, so I should be able to save the seed and they ought to grow true.

There are going to be a lot of seeds but that won't be until the end of the season and another year to see if they are a stable true breeding tomatoe variety.

Here is the link if you want to buy some of these seeds link - http://www.vanmeuwen.com/public/QLO...n&portal:isSecure=false&productCode=VM54646VM

I have Land..for the first time in over 10 years...Roll on Spring...:Grow & Show..:..I'm going to Grow me own Farm....

Has anyone tried these yet..?

th

any results in..?....

No not tried them yet, I did notice them last year but I don't normally buy plugs, as it is cheaper to grow from seeds.

The problem here though is it is a tomato plant grafted to a potato plant , very clever idea for sure but no savable seeds..

They are both members of the Solanum family along with peppers, chilles and eggplants, a potato chilli would be good.

I have grow potato leaf varieties of tomato, where the leaves look more like potato leaves rather than the usual shaped tomato leaf.

I am really looking forward to seeing everyones fruit and veg in the year to come :)

Just make sure you change your clothes and shoes {even take a shower} once you come in from the garden and before you go into your grow room.

This will help keep pests such as aphids and spider mites of of your grow.

Cherry or plum tomatos grow easy and very sweet and great in salads.

Aunty,do they have farmers markets there where you can sell your home grown produce?

I live in a northern cold/wet climate, so it is Early girl and Trans-Siberian tomatoes for me! They do get big, abit bigger than a softball and are delish!

Floridity and Sweet Olive are superbly flavored "Grape" {Baby plum} variety of tomato with an out standing flavor,

The only down side is they are both F1 so won't grow true if you save the seed.

Yeah...I was going to yell up they were expensive...:coffee2:..of course when you Win the prize for heaviest tomato..it will make up for it...

Fingers Crossed for you....:goodluck:

Think of the size of our genetic pot we will have by the end of the season..we'll have a Global Garden.

I Noticed them last season too..but with this kind of New Product I like to see someone grow them first.

Me and Mom used to be right on top of all the New stuff T&M used to release..but I must admit she has been sold some turkeys lately.
Sunflowers that were supposed to be 10 ft tall with multiple heads/8ft lillies with multiple heads..few more..all turned out to be rubbish..:slaps: ..she has almost lost the Faith.

has anyone grown the kumato-----

kumatoes are one of my all time favourites.
Firm hold together flesh.
High sweetpoint..but with a Tang..and a skin that Pops when you sink your teeth in.
I Hate soft mushy tomatoes with no Taste.....they should be Banned.

Cherry or plum tomatos grow easy and very sweet and great in salads.

Apart from kumatoes..I tend to prefer all the small bite sized cherry toms..that is what most of my seed are.

This year..I have a "Cherry kumato".....they had them in the supermarket..so I have seed drying now.

Yup...and both are within a 5 minute drive....

I'm reading a fruit and veg breeding book ATM..Yup.....and I'm sure it is Early Bird that he said was his favourite tomato and he was doing breeding projects on her.

What is she Like..?

A Lot of the tomatoes here are for juice and sauces..so you get a lot of really fleshy ones that I'm not so keen on..I prefer bite size.
