I'm going to try making a DIY octopot like pot to try out. I will use a bucket cover with a built in 8" net pot, stuffed into a 3 gallon fabric pot with a hole cut in the bottom for the net pot to stick through. I will put this on a 3.5 gallon bucket. I'm also thinking of trying it with coco loco as recommended, though I have never used coco.

Anyone here using octopots? I can't find a whole lot of info on using them, so I figured I'd see if anyone is using them and has any tips or anything. Nutes are my biggest mystery at the moment, as well as using coco loco with it. I only have a couple of soil grows under my belt and am looking to try something new. Thanks!

Never heard of it bud, but will be interested in seeing your efforts & build.

They have many videos on Youtube. I do not know if there is any practical experience in Autoflowers at octopot. I have three of the pots but have not used one yet. Sorry I am zero help.
I either caught the owner on a bad day or his panties were to tight that day. So my questions went unanswered.

They are interesting and I’ve read good things about them. At what they are priced at, I’m going to DIY something similar and give it a try later this year after another soil run.

Yeah I’ve watched a bunch of their videos but can’t seem to find the info I’m looking for. Autos in them seem to be few and far between, so it may take some playing with to get figured out I guess. Bummer they didn’t answer your questions, another reason to attempt to DIY it rather than buy

Just saw this. First time grower 60+ days in. I'm using a 6 gal Octopot and I'm following the Octopot recommendations: 60/40 coco/perlite, pH 6.3-6.5, "High Performance" watering method. I did the single initial top water of 1/2 gallon and kept a clear plastic cup over the seed for several days, including a couple of days after the sprout appeared. I'm using Urban Farms All Purpose Veg and Garden of Eden (bloom). Currently in second week of flower (DP Think Different) and all going well so far. Got a pile of roots in the reservoir and about 13 bud sites. I just got to half strength nutes (8ml/gallon) about a week ago. I use the nutrients and 1-2ml calmag/gallon every time I add to the reservoir. I am not measuring PPMs. I started the nutrients at 1/8th of the recommended amount (2 ml/gallon) and I've been working my way up every couple of weeks. I check the pH of the reservoir before adding water/nutes, and lately it's been around 6.0, so I've been adding in at 6.5.

If the 8 inch net pot you are planning to use has a width of 8 inches (rather than height) I'd think that's a bit bigger than the Octopot wick. I'd say it's about 4-5 inches across, and probably about the same depth (sorry I can't measure at the moment). I really like the wicking system because it's virtually impossible to over water. At this point I'm adding 2 gallons about every 3 days.

He had a 420 sale on the Octopots. Not sure if it's still going, but probably not. I still think it was worth the standard price of $50.

p.s. first time ever LST/defoliating and stuff. Not perfect but happy with how it's going.

If you have the time and tools to put the Alaska buckets together, it looks like it will have the same functionality. For me, the octopot was worth the $50. I'll be interested to see how it works out for you. Will you do a grow journal?
