od this is your most recent thread so i will slap a few pic's in.:D: DSC_0011.jpgDSC_0008.jpgDSC_0010.jpgdo you have a scope? if you look in the main mirror, you will see me and a nikon staring back at you.

Ah you dawg! I'm SOOOOO jealous!

No I don't have a scope at present. I have an "ex" so you can guess where all my stuff (and the money) went. LOL! No I've never been able to afford a good scope. I've had a couple of smaller manual and one with a cheap moto-drive. Used to just stick the Pentax K1000 straight on the drive. I love the old manual cameras. One of these days, brutha', one of these days! Been thinking of buying the mirror and just building my own Dobsonian. Got a couple of great parts sources. The prices have come down pretty good on the Meades and the available options and computer controls are really great. What do you think of the GE mount vs. the fork? I had the GE but I always found alignment a pain because I took mine all over the place. But then again mine was an el-cheapo.

Re: VMesg.
Yeah I can dig it! I would have too but I got bored with the cheapo scopes poor resolving abilities (or should say lack of!) and got tired of looking at the moon. I wanted WAY more, and way more detail. The camera helped in that. Man, too bad about the obstructed view. For the Dob I spoke of, I had an idea of a homemade trailer on leveling jacks with a mini-observatory so I could "take it on the road".

Another dream, another "some day!"...

if you do buy a scope, then get the eq more versetile than a fork mount:2cents: funny you mention pentax, i used the k1000 and the me super
in conjunction with a questar 7 and a cold camera to hyper the film. when i dabbled in astrophotography.:D: it's been my number one hobby for over 50 year's:smokebuds:and i have built my own scope's, i built a 8" classical cassergrain, and a 12" newtonian reflector, both on a german equatorail mount! you have a big sky in texas, if your not near any of the big city's, a fast dobsonian would be ideal to build!:D:

I'm way out in B.F.E. with lots of mesquite and live oak. Got lots of sky in the right places and light pollution is fairly minimal. I just wish I had a scope right now. Unfortunately, all available cash is goin' in the closet. wink wink. :stylez rasta smoke: Guess I'll have to just 'pod the K1000 with some 400 fuji (hated the grainy 1000, but might try some of the newer Fujicolor Superia X-Tra800) and do it the hard way!
