Hey guys,
Been a while since I have posted, but have been lurking around.. Currently, I just got my beans and did paper towel method until they just split and I could see white taproot (but before any of the root actually came out) I'm thinking this will keep the root as sterile as possible. Anyways, I have them in fox farms ocean forest cut by a third with perlite. Both in Two gallon pots 2 feet under 150hps with one 1650lumen 6500k cfl inches above the soil, to help with blue spectrum. I was hoping some of you have had experience with these strains or similar set ups, as this is only my second auto grow, and only my fourth total. I have ff trio and ff cha-ching, along with Advanced Nutes piranha, bud candy, and then final phase (for the flush). I haven't decided which nutrients to use or how much and when to use them. It would be great if these companies had a feeding schedule for auto's or even an "autoflower" line of nutes.
If anyone has any advice, sure would appreciate it. My last auto grow was also my first and without this site, I probably would have really fucked up. Any advice with the which nutes to use and when to use on auto's or advice with these strains would be much appreciated. I will keep this as a journal if anyone wants to follow. It hasn't quite been 24hours since my magical beans have been ever so gently placed in pots, pics will follow when I have something to take a picture of.
Thanks,
B.

your soil is going to be too hot, its good to mix FFOF with a nice base soil to balance out the ph, so you don't cause problems in the beginning stages. and to your feeding question. dont give nutes until week 3 some start week 2 but i like to make mine use as much of thier own power as possible to get started. for the nutes start at 1/4 or even a 1/8 strength and work your way up to the recommended dose. some people use recommend dose as a MAX dose, some autos will respond well to a full dose others not so much, some you may have some you feed only half a dose the whole grow depending how sensitive the plant it is. im glad you found us if you need any help along the way we are here for you buddy:Sharing One: i grew a blue diesel, really nice strain develops really fast also

I know ffof is hot that's why I added in 2quarts of extra perlite, I have heard that can help with the heat of fox farms, I also recently read that autos like the extra air so I figured it may work well. Never used fox farms ocean forest before, but I did try and do some research, unfortunately, it's easier to find opinions rather than scientific fact, but I'll take what I can get... I was going to wait until at least week two or three to even think about adding nutes, I have also heard not until you start seeing formations of pistils. I was more curious which
Line to go with, and obviously I always use less than advertised... Thanks for the tips though. Appreciate it.

I don't think the soil will be too hot. I have one box that has a 150hps and use one gallon pots with promix. They are always fine. I keep the light 18" above the plants though. The temp on top of the soil in generally between 70-80 degrees. How big is the growing area you're using?

The area is half of a bedroom closet, about 2ft wide X 1.5ft deep X 5ish ft high, which is where my light hangs from. It doesn't produce enough heat to really worry about heat stress. And my last grow was two big Photoperiod girls about a foot away from light with no heat issues. And I could've have raised if needed. And the strains I have don't get to big, from what I understand. They just started to pop thru soil when I got home from work today. The northern lights is actually above the soil and I can see the blue diesel stem starting to just get out of the soil. I have pretty good temp control, but I do live in a very warm area, hopefully my new roof is as well insulated as the last one. I am however worried about running an hps 20hrs a day, even just a 150w will still add up to quite a few kW/h, hopefully it doesn't get too hot here until may and I should be OK. My main issue as of now is figuring out a feeding schedule with the nutes I have, and yes I know not to start any nutes until at least 2-3 weeks, but "good growers are prepared" -Rosenthal, (probably said that one time or another, I know I didn't make that up), not scrambling at the last minute trying to make up a feeding regiment. Or just experimenting and totally fucking up and killing my plant. BTW, nutrient choices are fox farms trio some leftover cha-ching, and advanced nutrients piranha, bud candy, and final phase (which I will be using to flush no matter which line I go with.

I always threw my girls straight in ocean forest no problems besides bugs,if u aint got no bugs u cool.also I wouldn't mix nutes to hard to figure out strengths I would go with 1 or the other I used to use fox farm but now I use AN actually I take that back I have a little cha ching I use toward the end of my grows.anyway you got time to figure out what ur gonna do..FORSHIZZLE MY NIZZLE

Soil temps will be fine with the amount of space in there. Just keep them 18" from the plants.

Both ladies have popped out with its "starter" leaves, and one pair each of actual leaves. Both very tiny, been a while since starting from nothing, I forgot how small they are when they start.. Both have sprouted so I'm very happy...so far. Probably going to water them in a day or two, top of soil is dry, but bottom is still a bit moist.
One question, do I need to keep the t-8 tube on them still or can I just switch over to full hps? I guess I'm asking if the hps has enough of the blue spectrum to do the whole job alone, or does it not matter as much? (because they are auto's and they really just need light) thanks.

P.s. new with hid lights, never used them on autos, only cfl.

If anyone has any advice with either of these strains, please share. They are doing good so far, about five days old growing second set of leaves. Here are some pics..
The one on the left is blue diesel, one on right is northern lights.

Third set of leaves coming in, they have doubled in size from last post. I think I may start some fox farms big bloom (as its nutrient content is less than 1% of soluble npk) and maybe a small bit of grow big. If anyone has any other suggestions, also have some advanced nutes stuff, I believe I have piranha, bud candy (I know that comes later) and final phase, which is obviously last. Tablet pics suck, but here ya go..
