Hi everyone, after a shocking attempt to grow 21 cheese plants in 4 hydro trays in a small room with some friends, I've decided to go solo. I have decided to try out Green House's Big Bang Auto because of the alleged flowering time of six weeks.

Equipment:
1 RVK100A1 Extraction/Filtration Kit - (175m3/hour)
1 RVK intake fan
1 Standard pedestal fan
2x 600w HPS lights
Digital Temp/Hum monitor
7.5Litre pots

Media & Nutrients:
Bio Bizz All Mix Soil
Bio Biz Nutrient pack(root juice, Grow, Bloom etc)

Growing Area(Diamond Reflective Sheeting):
Height - 1.75m
Width - 3m
Depth - 2.5m

The seeds came in a pack of 5, unfortunately only two survived due my inexperience and lack of confidence. I was uncomfortable using any method that required me to touch the seeds after germination i.e the paper towel method. So I put 3 in Root Riot Rockwool which I the put in soil and 2 straight into soil about an inch deep. The first method failed they did grow roots but didn't sprout, the second method worked fine and they sprouted under 48 hours.

I am nearly a two weeks so I will post pics from that point onwards and try to give an update as often as possible

Please let me know what you think of my initial set up and feel free to make fun of my crazy attempt with the cheese.

Big Bang Day 11

DAY 11

I soaked the soil in a half strength Root Juice and Bio Heaven solution before planting the seeds. Since then I have only added water every few days with a few drop of the same nutes here and there to keep the soil moist. They seem to be growing pretty quick and in perfect form too, however I am slightly concerned that the leaves are a touch patchy and the edge/rim of the leaves are curling a little. The are no temp or humidity issues, so I'm thinking and hoping it's the effect of the Canna Cure I sprayed about 5 days ago. If anyone could tell me another reason why I'd appreciate it.

It's good to initialy add some BioBizz nutes but I would avoid using any more for the first 2 weeks and only stick to water. Then use them every other feed, use Grow for the first 3 weeks then start using Bloom for a further 3 more weeks. Flush and only use water for the remaining 2 weeks.

Other than that it seems to be coming along fine.

Thanks for the advice I was already thinking about a similar feed program but I've got this urge to push it to the limit with one of them. I'm really looking forward to getting past the two week stage and getting some nutes in them. :stir:

Hay dude I had the same patches on a few plants using the same soil and the PH was to low, have you checked your run off?

hi buddy gonna sub to this as ive just started germing a big bang with the same medium your using. good luck with the grow, hope it goes well mate. :peace:

I did check the PH level a few days ago I'm using an analog meter with probes it read around 7.5, I've already noticed that the PH goes over 7 right after feeding and takes a few days to go down. Seeing as I'm close to 2 weeks and getting ready to give em some nutes, I'm gonna let it get a lot more dry then I have done so far. I've kept the soil moist from day one so it shouldn't hurt them too much if I do.

Thanks mcon, I'll be doing the same. How many babies you gonna raise ?

The All Mix soil contains compost and worm castings and is consider a "hot" mix, often too hot for seedlings. Next grow I would suggest starting in their Light Mix and moving to the All Mix once the plants are established. The high nutrient content of this soil should be sufficient to feed the plants for their first 3-4 weeks, so I would advise against adding any grow nutrients until the plants have exhausted the soil. Also, if you are using one of those inexpensive soil probes, they are notoriously inaccurate and can be off by as much as .5 or even a 1 whole point. You would be better served to get a good liquid pH tester so you can accurately pH your feeds and test your water run off.

Thanks for checking in Muddy and the advice too. Fortunately I do a have PH tester for liquid, I was actually planning to sell it along with some hydro tanks on e-bay. Good thing I didn't :booya:
