So I've done nothing but photoperiod strains in the past. In general with them it takes at least two weeks for the plant to reach a point where it can flower and then 70-80 days after that to mature. With autos a lot of breeders advertise 60 days from seed and I see grows online harvest around that timeframe.

Question: Shouldn't autos take more like 80-90 days from seed to flower completely? In other words if it starts autoflowering around week two wouldn't that put the finishing time around 70 days even for the earliest varieties? Or am I missing the boat entirely...do autos take less time to complete a flowering cycle in addition to flowering automatically?

Hi Jawn, In my experience with Autos ive always harvested mine about the 9-10 Week mark, they can be finished earlier but that all depends on what lights you are using etc..

In general autos take a shorter time to finish than photos but they still vary alot with the different strains. Some of the smaller dwarf strains will finish in 60 days or less and then the lareger strains could take up to 80 to 90 days. They usually always take longer than the seed banks state. Read the smoke reports forum and they will give you an idea on the grow time of different strains.:2cents:

It's all about the trichomes due, when they are milky and amber it's time to chop, most auto's like namvet can take up to 80 days if it's a larger strain, rule of thumb, for me is always go 7-10 days over what the seedbank tell you

Hey thanks guys very informative. Thanks especially goauto for that article!
