Hey there

I have recently purchased these and they certainly help with the humidity. In fact it holds them at around 70RH which I am happy with as they are just seedlings. So I think I may continue to use them, how are you finding yours, use them?

The only thing I don’t like is how much air or lack of air they get. I like the seedlings to have some movement from the air pressure of fans to strengthen their stems.

I have took the lids off tonight so they can get some movement from the environment, only down side is the humidity is only about 40 in the room.

So my query to you.
Which would you go for, the better controlled humidity with the lid on but no movement or the wobble they get to strengthen the stems but without a good humidity?

Maybe mixing them up a bit is the best to go but just wondering on general opinion or it doesn’t matter at all....

Peace...

I like the covers and use them for seedlings and clones. Really does help to not stress the seedling with too dry of a humidity. As for strengthening up your seedlings, I take the cover off for an hour a day to let the fan blow on them. Plus I tap on their stem with a chopstick for a few minutes a day to help strengthen the main stem.

Just dont use them too long, once I have a set of true leaves on a seedling I start opening the vent dome and a few days after that I remove them.

Thanks, my room just won’t hold humidity, sits at 40RH.
I expect my exhaust is just expelling it.

I will have to do something similar to you or somehow get a fan to blow air towards the top of the lids to get in side.

I have the vents open or humidity rises to 80, which at that point I opened them. Sits nicely at 70 with lids on and open :)

Hi buddy, I am on day 9 now and they have two sets of true leaves, should I look at removing the lids now?

My humidity is approx 35-40 in the groom, I could throw a humidifier in there but I never see any improvement and with the heat, I wouldn’t want to add more heat to the room.

So have been keeping them under the lid, but given them an hour two a day outside with fan passing over them to give air movement and strength to them.

Think I need to consider removing the lids now, whatcha think.

I’ve actually bought one of these a couple days ago for my clones I’ve a blueberry photo vegging so I’ll give it a try with them and let u no. I think 1-2 hrs off to circulate air and spray with 2-4 intervals of 30 mins per day for 10-14 day and hopefully rooted enough to pot up asap hope this helps bro

Without being there looking at them or a really good picture, it would be hard to say. Which is why it’s so important to learn to read your plants. If they look healthy, unstressed, and your medium is not too wet you can leave them under the dome to supplement the humidity you don’t have in that room. The vents on those are large enough to control the humidity. Of course there is always that moment that you know your baby should be able to handle being in lower humidity and take the dome off.
And when she pushes the dome off by herself you probably waited too long. :crying:

That sounds great. I use them for seedlings and clones and don’t use them just with autopots. I have used them with solo cups with clones and have a small garden tray that fits under one for use with rock wool or starter plugs.

They are a handy little lids. In a pinch, when wet trimming, I have been know to flip one upside down to catch the trimmings. :smoking:

I think it all just trail and error until just like someone already said can read what the clones need

You are absolutely right, in regard to judging the plants first and foremost. I am still learning, done lots of reading but not so much practice. So I have to learn to read myself more than the plants haha.

Your advice is sound and I have taken note.

With that said, I will point you to my grow diary if you don’t mind. Just posted some pictures, although lights were off, I had flash on.

I am going to continue with the lids for now and take them off for a couple of hours as mentioned earlier in the thread. It seems to be working and they look happy to me.

Cheers
