I see a lot of growers using baking soda to up ph organiclly when feeding, I'm not here to debate if it works but I recently read that baking soda is high in salt. If this is so couldn't it cause problems with salt build up if your using it every feed to up ph? Thanks for any replies!

Bumb! Don't normally bumb but I want to know you guys thoughts on this. I seen something from university of texas a&m saying that it can cause salt build up but got busy and could not read the whole article.

I found this and I thought you would enjoy the info

Table salt is 40% sodium by weight, and easily the number one source of sodium for almost everyone. 100 grams of table salt (1/3 cup) provides 38,000 mg of sodium or 1615% of the DV. One teaspoon of salt provides 2325mg of sodium or 98% of the DV. One teaspoon of baking soda provides 1368mg of sodium (57% DV), and one teaspoon of baking powder contains 530mg (22% DV).

So for every 5g(one teaspoon) of baking soda there is 1.4g of sodium in it.
I would have to look into it further to know the full effects over time but on the evidence I found its not something I would consider using on a regular basis

Thanks seraphim that's what I was thinking. I'm trying to find the article I read the other day. But if this is true, even tho its organic baking soda could cause problems for plants if your using it to mange ph when feeding.

Most silica additives will raise the PH quite well.
